Are you closer to a decision about whether you're going to direct the next Star Trek movie?

J.J. Abrams: No. We don't have a completed script yet or anything, but we have a release date. There's a release date, but we're still working on the script. The idea is that they have faith in this team.

Do you have a date for delivering a script for Star Trek 2?

J.J. Abrams: Not really. I'm sure there is one, but I haven't figured out what it is. You can work backwards and figure out that you probably would need something now.

When asked what he thought of Star Trek 2 taking on the recently announced Spider-Man reboot in 2012, he said, "I'd be psyched to see what that is. I know they're talking about a reboot of Spider-Man, so that will be interesting. I would think that there's room for all of us.
