Kevin Feige Talks SPIDER-MAN's MCU Future And Marvel Studios' Relationship With Sony And Fox
Kevin Feige talks about Spider-Man's future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and reveals whether or not Marvel Studios' relationship with Fantastic Four and X-Men rights holders Fox have improved.
Tom Holland made his first Marvel Cinematic Universe appearance as Peter Parker in Captain America: Civil War, and his story will continue next year in Spider-Man: Homecoming. However, will the wall-crawler make his presence felt in Avengers: Infinity War? Holland isn't entirely sure, but in a new interview with Collider, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige shed some light on where thing stand.
"We’re figuring it out," the producer teased. "I mean, it was really the specifics for Captain America: Civil War and Spider-Man: Homecoming. Spider-Man: Homecoming just wrapped as you know and we’re just getting into cutting that movie, so that’s the primary focus but we are…that iceberg is thawed and is non existent. So we talk to them all the time about what could be fun for the future."
So, things are going well with Sony then, but will Spidey be in Avengers: Infinity War or not? "It is I would say that is part of the surprise. I don’t want to spoil anything one way or another."
The site also asked Feige about whether or not the relationship between Marvel and Fox is still a "frozen tundra," and while it doesn't sound like things are too bad, don't get your hopes up for an X-Men crossover! "Well, it’s the same as it has always been. I don’t want to attribute it as a frozen wasteland or anything like that. We all get along and I see them occasionally but there’s no change in any dynamic." Chances are we will see Spider-Man in one of the next two Avengers movies, but it will be interesting to see whether or not that hinges on the success of Homecoming. What do you think?
