Despite more release date shifts, 2021 is starting to pick up, and it's definitely been another busy week for news here on CBM. Time will tell whether we're facing another wave of delays, but regardless of what the future holds, Hollywood is (currently) showing no signs of slowing down.

There were a couple of big trailers this week (including for a Zack Snyder movie which isn't DC-related), but lots of other big stories. Warner Bros., for example, is rebooting the Man of Steel, while we have some huge Spider-Man 3 news, a first look at the MCU's Shang-Chi, and much more.

That barely scratches the surface of the past seven days, though, and there's a lot here to delve into.

To take a look through these stories, all you guys need to do is hit the "Next" button down below.

10. No, Jennifer Lawrence Isn't Playing Invisible Woman

2324343432213434323312133444

Last weekend, a very interesting rumour popped up online suggesting that Jennifer Lawrence had been cast as Sue Storm in Jon Watt's Fantastic Four reboot. Love or hate her work as Mystique in Fox's X-Men franchise, there's no denying that there's a lot the actress could bring to the role.

Sadly, it didn't take long until the report was debunked, with one reliable reporter explaining, "All I’m gonna say is this, Marvel just started meeting with writers on Fantastic Four, there is no script and it will be awhile before this film starts shooting." So, consider this rumour debunked!

9. First Trailer For Jupiter's Legacy Revealed

232434343221343432331213344

The first teaser for Netflix's adaptation of Jupiter's Legacy was released this week, while we also got a premiere date: May 7th. Oddly, though, there's not a single bit of footage from the show here.

That doesn't feel like the greatest of signs, and this "epic superhero drama that spans decades and navigates the complex dynamics of family, power, and loyalty" could go either way (it's certainly taken long enough to get here). Still, it's an intriguing teaser, and has us keen to see more.

8. Loki's Premiere Date Announced

23243434322134343233121334

Marvel's entire Phase 4 slate has been hit by delays courtesy of COVID-19, but there was some good news this week as Loki finally got an official premiere date (as did Star Wars: The Bad Batch).

Loki will arrive on June 11th, while The Clone Wars spinoff is set for a May 4th debut. As we're sure you know, that date is better known as "Star Wars Day." Hopefully, new trailers are on the way.

Check out the announcement Tweet in our original post.

7. Russo Brothers Plotting Superhero Movie Return

2324343432213434323312133

Cherry arrives in theaters today, and you can read our review of that one here. However, what comes next for filmmakers Joe and Anthony Russo? Well, we don't know yet, but it seems they've already lined up their next superhero project...they're just not saying who they're making it for yet!

A Marvel return seems inevitable, but could a DC Comics adaptation be on the cards? Quite possibly, but it seems we'll have to wait and see for now (with any luck, an announcement is on the way).

Find out more from the Russos on their future plans here.

6. Martian Manhunter Steps Out Of The Shadows

232434343221343432331213

To promote Zack Snyder's Justice League, some variant covers for Justice League #59, including one showing off Superman in his black suit alongside the Flash, and most notably, Harry Lennix's Martian Manhunter have been revealed. We've caught a glimpse of that character on merchandise, but this Jim Lee artwork offers our best look to date at how he'll appear in the movie.

Of course, it was also revealed this week that the "mind-blowing cameo" which Vanity Fair mentioned in their recently interview was just referring to Martian Manhunter, and not, say, Green Lantern.

5. First Army Of The Dead Trailer Revealed

23243434322134343233121

It was recently confirmed that Army of the Dead will arrive on Netflix on May 21st, and we now have the first teaser trailer! It's brief, and only gives us a vague idea of what to expect, but this movie is clearly going to show us a Las Vegas like never before after the city is overrun by the undead.

It looks like director Zack Snyder (who penned the screenplay with Shay Hatten and Joby Harold) is having a lot of fun here, as we see a zombie Elvis impersonator, as well as a casino being overrun.

Watch the trailer right here.

4. Lucasfilm's Live-Action Ezra Bridger?

2324343432213434323312

It was originally reported that Lucasfilm was planned an animated sequel series to Star Wars Rebels, finally revealing what happened to Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn. The Mandalorian's second season set the stage for that story to play out, but the overwhelmingly positive reaction to Ahsoka Tano's live-action debut seemingly changed plans (and Ahsoka will now serve as that sequel).

According to a recent report, Aladdin star Mena Massoud is the current frontrunner to play Ezra in the Disney+ series, which would obviously be stellar casting decision on Lucasfilm's part.

For more details on this casting news, head over to our earlier report.

3. Shang-Chi's Costume

232434343221343432331

Some promo art featured on an upcoming Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings LEGO set found its way online on Friday, and revealed our first look at Simu Liu suited up as the title hero.

The set also contains Xialing (played by Meng'er Zhang) and Wenwu (Tony Leung). The latter, remember, is actually The Mandarin, so this LEGO minifigure offers a first look at how he might appear. Death Dealer being part of the movie is also new information...as is that massive water dragon!

Check out this leaked promo art from the movie here.

2. Spider-Man 3 Gets A Title: No Way Home

23243434322134343233

Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon trolled us with fake titles for Spider-Man 3, and with those came a series of mostly unrevealing official images showing Peter Parker, MJ, and Ned. Eventually, the real title was revealed, and it's one we can definitely get on board with.

So, Spider-Man: No Way Home it is! Marvel Studios has certainly kept us all guessing, and it seems the "Home" sub-titles are here to stay. Will Spidey stick around in the Marvel Cinematic Universe or is he going to find himself a permanent addition to the SPUMC? We'll have to wait and see.

The announcement with the title reveal can be found by clicking here.

1. A Superman Reboot Is Coming

2324343432213434323

This wasn't the news some fans hoped for, but a Superman reboot appears to be in the works at Warner Bros. with J.J. Abrams producing, and Ta-Nehisi Coates penning the screenplay.

It doesn't sound like Henry Cavill will be returning as the Man of Steel, and the plan is instead to cast a Black actor to play the character. That will obviously mean a completely fresh take on Superman, and it appears Michael B. Jordan is still a possibility to take on the title role if things pan out.

I'm still so confused by Loki's release date. It's six episodes releasing weekly, so that means that july 9th we're gonna get a Loki episode and Shang-Chi.

I just don't see that happening if the reason is making for The Bad Batch. Maybe Black Widow and Shang-Chi are both delayed three weeks, and Loki falls in between them.

Me whenever I hear that Mena Massoud/Ezra Bridger story:

No offence I just think that he is not a good actor, like at all...pretty good dancer tho.
