Rumour has it the next Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer will be released this November, which is no great surprise when Eternals is set to arrive in theaters that month. While it might have made sense to attach something to Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Sony Pictures surely doesn't want to risk overshadowing that sequel by hyping up what comes next for the wall-crawler.
It's going to be a waiting game for fans (again), but we do now have the IMAX trailer for the threequel in glorious 4K! There's no new footage, but we do get to see more of what's happening thanks to the expanded ratio of those giant-size screens.
As well as confirming that it's not Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock with Peter Parker in that interrogation room (we learned that was the case when this trailer started playing in IMAX theaters), we get to see a little more of Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus. A glimpse of the harness that goes around his waist confirms that it's the same one he donned in 2004's Spider-Man 2.
It now seems clear that this is the same Doc Ock who once tormented Tobey Maguire's webbed wonder, and that's interesting on a number of levels.
Check out the IMAX trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home below:
"For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero is unmasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero," reads the movie's synopsis. "When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man."
The confirmed cast members include Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Zendaya as MJ, Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Benedict Wong as Wong, Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus, Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, and Marisa Tomei as May Parker. Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, Jamie Foxx, and Willem Dafoe are among those rumoured to appear.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is set to swing into theaters on December 17, later this year!
