Spider-Man: No Way Home has just won three huge awards in this year's Golden Tomato Awards. As you can see below, Rotten Tomatoes has announced that the Sony Pictures/Marvel Studios blockbuster has won "Best-Reviewed Movie of the Year," "Best-Reviewed Wide Release of the Year," and "Best-Reviewed Comic Book Movie of the Year."
In the "Best-Reviewed Movie of the Year" category, Spider-Man: No Way Home topped In the Heights, Summer of Soul, Pig, The Power of the Dog, Coda, Raya and the Last Dragon, West Side Story, A Quiet Place Part II, and The Mitchells vs. The Machine.
At least a few of those films are likely to be nominated for "Best Picture" at this year's Oscars, so if Spider-Man: No Way Home is snubbed by the Academy, there's something really wrong there. For starters, it shows a real disconnect between voters and both critics and moviegoers, and proves that comic book movies are looked down on by the awards ceremony.
We'll see what happens, but something tells us these won't be the last awards won by the threequel at the non-prestigious award shows. Love or hate Rotten Tomatoes, being named the best-reviewed movie of the year is not to be sniffed at and shows how beloved the wall-crawler's latest adventure is.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is now playing in theaters.
