Plot/Character Details For THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2; SPOILERS Ahead

We've managed to uncover a few tidbits and one pretty major spoiler from Marc Webb's Amazing Spider-Man sequel. Read on to find out more on how Green Goblin, Electro, Gwen Stacy and Venom will - or won't - feature in the movie..

Okay, SPOILER WARNING noted, ready to move on? Final Warning?? A source close to the production has provided us with the following pieces of information on The Amazing Spider-Man 2. There are some details we got hold of that we won't post now, but we will reveal one major - though not entirely unexpected - spoiler.

First up, Electro (Jamie Foxx). We're told he will not be wearing anything close to his classic green and yellow outfit, and to "think Ultimate version". Again, not really unexpected. The character's civilian alter ego Max Dillon will be an Oscorp employee - oh, and that pic Webb tweeted with the morgue number? Nothing at all to do with Venom (no Eddie Brock appearance either) it's actually where Dillon is taken after his "accident". We're told there will be no Green Goblin in this movie but LOTS of teasers and foreshadowing for the next movie - apparently Norman Osborn (Chris Cooper) hasn't been cured yet and is still dying. Now for the big spoiler: Just as most of us suspected, Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) will indeed check out in this film, but perhaps more surprising is that it's been hinted - note we don't know this for certain - that this won't even happen at the end, and Stone's role may not be very large at all. Like I said, that's speculation based on how the info was put across, but I personally wouldn't be surprised in Gwen buys it around the beginning of the third act, giving Spidey a reason to go off the deep end and seek revenge.

Thoughts? Be sure to sound off in the usual place.

Hmmmm...A major development in PP's life and the development of the Goblins villainy is tied to her death...changing it is pretty dangerous especially if you are doing a full revision.

After getting the audience emotionally attached to Gwen in the first movie, her dying very early is going to feel kind of like a slap in the face. Not to mention the fact that Emma Stone is major eye candy for male viewers and fanboys. I don't know...sounds like a disappointing plot twist for me. And no Venom?

I'm a little less excited now. Hate to be a Negative Nancy and a whatnot

I've always thought that Norman's dying state can be an intriguing plot driver, and I'm pretty glad to know that his character arc will still (possibly) revolve around that. And...well, this should be an easy guess, but I dare to bet that the cure will be the one to lead him into his transformation as the Goblin.

Nooooo!!! This sounds balls. I expect her to die but not at the hands of Electro.....

I wonder if Gwen death won't chance Peter like Uncle Ben death didn't much in the first movie. not excited about this movie at all after that first pile of crap.

Who gives a shit if I want to hear about the gwen Stacy death I will pick.it out of my shelf of comics. Thats what was wrong with Spiderman 1 and TASM we all know the story how about some originality in CBM like blade batman begins iron man TDK what's the point in copying a successful comic story then translating it to the big screen. Yes use some.aspects from the comics but not.the whole story.

ummmmm its partly Goblins fault she died in the comic...so Webb and Co are altering the way she died ?
Its supposed to be the catalyst to fueling the Goblin/Spider battle no?

I don't believe any of this. Probably just a prank.

If Gwen dies, it'll be at the very end. And Goblin will be doing the killing. Having all this at the end gives part 3 LOADS of drama.

EdgyOutsider - 3/27/2013, 8:44 AM
@Soto: I hope he doesn't find the killer cause It makes it more interesting.

All in all, if this is true. I knew it wouldn't be as good as the TASM. Doesn't look like the reasons I thought it would but, I was still pretty much right. I hope it still turns out good but, it sounds like that might not happen. Also, I feel if they don't have Gwen bit the dust by Goblin then you've done no service to the material.

@LEVITIKUZ Black cat is only rumoured. I highly doubt felicity jones is black cat, she's either Betty brant or the main psychiatrist in ravencroft who's name escapes me. And considering woodley finished filming not even a month into production I doubt MJ is going to be in it for more than 20 mins at most. And things like a new suit and graduating high school aren't going to be major plot points.
Luzo
Luzo - 3/27/2013, 8:46 AM
No... Norman HAS to be the one who kills Gwen! i'd rather see gwen being infected by Norman's weird disease and dying than being killed by Electro.
Luzo
Luzo - 3/27/2013, 8:50 AM
and... MJ's already expected to have a small role, and now Gwen too..
So this movie will be Spidey going after a random villain who prematurely killed his love and, certainly, has some connection with his parents' mysterious and boring past?
Ocelot
Ocelot - 3/27/2013, 8:52 AM
maybe norman is the one who orders the hit on gwen, like a mob boss, which leads to her death. Even though he wouldn't be killing her physically and someone else maybe electro does, he would still be the one primarily responsible for her death as he ordered it to happen. Peter finds out seeks revenge in the third film
Spideyguy94
Spideyguy94 - 3/27/2013, 8:54 AM
@LEVITIKUZ Are you serious? Sandman killing uncle ben completely undermines his lesson learnt about responsibility and his motivation for being spider-man, because it doesn't matter if the robber got away uncle Ben still would if died therefore its not peters fault.
Spideyguy94
Spideyguy94 - 3/27/2013, 8:54 AM
Norman Osborn not killing gwen is the equivalent of Jason Todd not being beaten by a crow bar by the joker but instead shot by the penguin. It should be Norman because they've already hinted that Norman is responsible for his parents death, killing gwen intensifies the connection between Osborn and Peter and does justice to the source material IMO.
GizmoEl
GizmoEl - 3/27/2013, 8:54 AM
But isn't MJs role minimal in this movie? I call bullshit. She might die but it'll happen at the end, they still need to build their relationship before it falls apart. As of right now they're not even together. I really hope Norman is the one who kills her.. That's the way it has to be.

Maybe they make Norman send people to kill her instead of doing it himself. I think that'd be a little lame but would still set up Spider-Man's need for revenge on Norman
OdinsBeard
OdinsBeard - 3/27/2013, 8:55 AM
yeah i don't buy no goblin AND gwen dying. if you're going to have teasers of goblin and not actually show him you're going to run the IM2 risk.

have green goblin kill gwen. if you don't i will boycott all future Webb spidey movies.
