SINISTER SIX Trademarks Renewed, Is It Now A Comedy Series?

It seems the previously presumed dead project has now returned, but with a potentially interesting new twist!

According to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Marvel and Sony have renewed three Sinister Six related trademarks. The first two are for merchandise and toys, but the third is very interesting:

Now the obvious assumption that could be made of this is that the project is now back on at Sony Pictures, but I noticed something that could be very interesting: that this renewal also mentions television programs. Could it be that it's being revived for a Netflix project? Or is it one of the two mystery Marvel shows in development with ABC Studios? It certainly would make sense if John Ridley's project were kept such a secret if it were Spider-Man related, like how this one is. Another thing to keep in mind is that Paul Lee at TCA this week mentioned a second comedy show with Marvel being in development at ABC Studios (which is not, as some reports did not note, the same as being developed for the ABC Channel; all the Netflix shows are done through ABC Studios). While you might not think the SInister Six lends itself to comedy, there was a run featuring the team under the title Superior Foes of Spider-Man fairly recently.

Could it be possible we may see a comedic adaptation of the Sinister Six either on ABC or Netflix? Only time will tell, but one way or the other the signs seem to indicate that Marvel has plans for the property in one form or another. Leave a comment below on what you think!

I'd love to see the Sinister Six on the big screen, but I don't know how I feel about it being a movie. I would have prefer Spider-Man teaming up with Hulk and taking them down.

I've always wanted them to do a Superior Foes-esque Sinister Six movie with the original Six since the day they announced this movie. Even wrote my little draft of it for fun with some friends. Always dug the idea.

When reading this, this comes to mind. Spiderman vs the Sinister six season 4

It's due to start this year. Marvel is possibly getting merchandise ready with a possible on screen action. Spidey is going to be the future with the Marvel movies Big screen and Animation that coincides with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I can see a new Marvel Legends Sinister pack Infinity edition. Netflix is another possible source for Sinister six characters including Spidey guess staring. We Shall See.....

I need this to happen, if anyone has seen what Drew has to offer aside from Daredevil and Cabin in The Woods(both of which are awesome) then you'd know he would do this justice, when he says it was the Spider Man movie of his dreams I truly believe him. I would kill to see this movie happen. But it HAS to be a a part of the MCU, I'm not sure why it wouldn't but still.

Also, sweet find to the person who made this article. You might be the only one who has made an article about this on any of the major sites.

I never had a problem with a Sinister Six movie. What I DID have a problem with is Sony trying to pass it off as the next Avengers, and them make it the focal point around which the entire Amazing Spider-Man series revolved (which was already pretty bad to begin with).

A Sinister Six movie, be it an action/thriller or action/comedy, set in the MCU, is a very interesting concept. However, let's get the Spider-Man series up and running and get a few movies and villains under Tom Holland's belt before they try to attempt the Sinister Six.

I'd have the Sinister Six work for Kingpin, then this way you can have a Spider-Man and Daredevil team up film.

@Ramiel

I have that comic. In hindsight, I realize that cover is ridiculous as the Hulk would've murdered the entire Sinister Six within seconds. Except for Sandman, that is, since he can't be punched to death or torn apart.

Was thinking the same thing but something more along the lines of this picture.
Meaning, he teams up with the entirety of the Defenders(which is very similar to Ultimate Knights, at least the concept), and with the rumored inclusion of Doctor Strange in Defenders they could possibly even insert him in there(though that is a little more ballsy). But that would be awesome, it would be the ultimate connector between the netflix world and the movie world. Plus Drew started Daredevil and is likely to do sinister six if they go that route. If this DOES happen, oh my God, lord have mercy.

You're right, but I highly doubt Sony will go ahead with a live action Sinister 6 movie while they have that deal with Marvel Studios.

SINISTER SIX as a simple comedy sitcom? Sorry, but no. That's an unnecessary waste of potential for such a big property. Instead, they should do a DAILY BUGLE series or something. That would be far better.
