Disney+ Reveals Updated Slate Confirming 2024 Release Of At Least TWO Marvel Animation TV Shows

While Marvel Studios is slowing down its output, Marvel Animation has a lot of projects in various stages of development. Now, Disney+ has confirmed that at least two are heading our way this year...

Marvel Studios has drastically reduced its output since Bob Iger returned as Disney CEO, with the hope being to get back to quality over quantity. That's led to fewer TV shows on Disney+, but at least two more Marvel Animation titles will reportedly be released this year.

According to What's On Disney Plus (via Toonado.com), the streamer has sent out an updated 2024 slate which names Black Panther spin-off Eyes Of Wakanda and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (previously known as Spider-Man: Freshman Year) as being among the platform's 2024 offerings.

Other Marvel titles mentioned include Hit-Monkey season 2 (a Marvel Television leftover), Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, and Deadpool & Wolverine. Only Hit-Monkey has a confirmed launch date of July 15; the rest are currently undated.

It's interesting that Marvel Zombies isn't listed, as we'd expected that to hit in 2024 as well. It could be that no final decision has been made on the series, with it potentially arriving in time for the holidays similar to What If...? season 2 last year (Halloween surely makes the most sense). Season 3 of that show is expected to premiere in 2025.

The official synopsis for Eyes of Wakanda states, "Throughout Wakandan history, brave warriors have been tasked to travel the world retrieving dangerous vibranium artifacts. This is their story."

Rumour has it Iron Fist will appear, though the prevailing theory is that the show will focus on members of the Dora Milaje and how they serve their home nation (The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, for example, showed them tracking down an escaped Baron Zemo). This time, it appears we'll pick up with them throughout the MCU's history.

As for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, it was originally announced as what appeared to be a prequel to Peter Parker's MCU-set adventures. Since then, we've learned it will take place in a new reality where Norman Osborn becomes Spidey's mentor in place of Iron Man.

Talking about the show, Marvel Studios exec Brad Winderbaum said, "It follows the pattern that you see in [Captain America:] Civil War. Down to Peter [Parker] getting the broken Blu-ray player from the trash and he walks into his department for the famous moment where Tony Stark is waiting for him to offer him the Stark internship and take him to Berlin."

However, "things that happen in the multiverse because of new, random occurrences," and it isn't Tony Stark waiting for him. "It's Norman Osborn and that sends his life in an unexpected trajectory that collides him with many unexpected characters in the Marvel universe."

Stay tuned for updates on these Marvel Animation shows as we have them.

Spider-Man one has potential, the Wakanda one seems like a waste, why not just do a Black Panther animated show.

@Urubrodi - it’s seems Fiege lost all his marvel lore. Agatha ?? I don’t get why not bring the marvel figures to the fore front. Instead of what if do marvel origins so we get to the action and world building

Cool, looking forward to them!!.

However , I don’t think Eyes of Wakanda will be about the Dora Milaje but the War Dogs which is Nakia’s group since their job is to travel the world to collect information & retrieve artifacts to ensure the nations safety.

Spider-Man seems like an obvious choice but Wakanda Forever, should have made an Avengers or Fantastic Four show, especially after X-Men 97 was so well received.

@marvel72 - Wakanda Forever looks to have started production in 2021, so how well X-Men 97 was received probably didn't come into play.

@clintthahamster - Whatever the Wakanda show is called, they should focus on heroes like Avengers and Fantastic Four.

@marvel72 - I mean, I think they've focused pretty hard on the Avengers, what with the four movies so far called "Avengers" and the fact that nearly every other MCU movie has featured at least one member of the team. As for FF, I could see them wanting to save that for the very large tentpole film they're in the midst of producing. And I don't know that anyone was exactly clamoring for a continuation of the 90s FF animated show . . .

@Izaizaiza - Yeah, after Avengers 6, we need to have a Multiverse Moratorium.
