Spider-Man: Brand New Day recently became the highest-grossing movie of all time at the U.S. box office, and it's now the first to surpass the $950 million mark domestically.
After grossing $4.1 million during its ninth weekend in theaters, the movie has grossed an incredible $950.7 million. It will likely end its run around $960 million, and given that it took 11 years for Star Wars: The Force Awakens' 2015 record to be broken, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is bound to remain box office champion for the foreseeable future.
Overseas, a solid $6.2 million took its international cume to $1.54 billion. Added to the $950.7 million from North America, the web-spinner's latest blockbuster has made an amazing $2.49 billion. When all is said and done, it should leave theaters with $2.5 billion to $2.6 billion.
The Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios co-production cost $225 million to produce, and even though marketing costs haven't been revealed, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is undoubtedly one of the biggest hits ever. Spider-Man 5 is coming; it's just a matter of when.
As we previously reported, it's been claimed that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will hit 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD on November 17, 2026. Judging by that date, the movie should arrive on Digital platforms by October 6.
Sony Pictures Entertainment Chairman and CEO Ravi Ahuja recently hailed Spider-Man: Brand New Day's box office success as a "tremendous result," adding, "We obviously hadn’t forecast that. We thought it would do incredibly well, but we didn’t know that would do that well."
"Really, everybody came together to create a great thing," Ahuja continued, saying that "the movie itself is very emotional. So a little bit different from what some of the more recent superhero movies have been. Still very much a superhero movie — there are a lot of big action scenes."
"It’s a lot of fun. But it’s emotional. Some people come away crying, so that is something that clearly resonated with the audience," he added, noting that "we don’t have a date for [Spider-Man 5] yet...[it's] a couple years usually."
In Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it's a Brand New Day for Peter Parker. Fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that doesn’t remember him—and the pressure of seeing his old friends move on without him—sparks a change in Peter that he may not have the power to control.
