Bizarro Voted World's Best Steel Roller Coaster

Six Flags New England celebrated its most celebrated coaster with 125 members of the American Coaster Enthusiasts (ACE) on Sunday, October 25. BIZARRO, formerly SUPERMAN Ride of Steel, has once again received the Golden Ticket Award for Best Steel Coaster. The Golden Ticket Awards, hosted by Amusement Today, annually recognize the "Best of the Best" in the leisure entertainment industry. Winners are voted on by a panel of industry experts and theme park enthusiasts.

This is the 5th win for the coaster and its 4th in a row, having been previously honored in 2003, 2006, 2007 and 2008. The ride, known as "the best steel coaster on the planet," underwent a major transformation for the 2009 season, changing its name from SUPERMAN Ride of Steel to BIZARRO, a DC Comics character best known as a peculiar Superman-like creature. BIZARRO opened in May to rave reviews, unveiling a myriad of new enhancements, theming and special effects like a freeze vision "cool zone," bursts of fire, a spiked-shaped Auger of Doom and a state-of-the-art on board audio system.

"BIZARRO is King and still champ," said Amusement Today's Tim Baldwin. "Six Flags took an already amazing coaster and made it better ... something the coaster community didn't think was possible. The incredible drops and the airtime combined with all the great special effects has taken the experience to a whole new level."

"We're delighted that BIZARRO has been so well received," said Larry Litton, Six Flags New England Park President. "We're truly grateful to Amusement Today and coaster enthusiasts from all over the world for their ongoing support of what we believe is the greatest steel coaster ever made."

I love roller coasters!

@Multi- you hate surrendering yourself to a machine? But isnt that what you did when you joined up to be in the military? I am not trying to be a jerk or anything... i just hate war. And people who profit from it. And you do know that 911 was an inside job , dont you? I am really not trying to offend you. That is not the question here... for me it is isnt there a better way... one that would raise humanities consciousness and karma? I hate the Taliban and the likes because of their small-mindedness. But we have allowed our military to dictate how we reason. Our own Govt. wont even give us Health Care and i am supposed to just sit back and say how much i love America? Well F that. The Danes have an incredible Health Care System and so do most industrialized countries.... i sometimes feel that those who serve in our military do so without being aware of what they are actually fighting for. I dont know... i am just getting soooo sick of this Govt. and all it seems to stand for. I would rather pay money to a Govt. that wants to see me fit and healthy to create a better economy to get my health insurance than some private company whose CEO's spend their hard earned American dollars on expensive Italian Luxury boats. At least every day i step out the door ... i see what those who truly serve the citizens of this country on a daily basis have done for us... by keeping our roads paved and our parks open..... but thats me. What do you think, how do you feel?

Ha ha ha! In Louisville, KY (which is like the next town over the bridge from where I live) there was a girl who rode the "Superman: Tower of Power" which is like a Hell-Avator straight up and down ride with exposed feet, and got her feet cut off my a cable that was supporting the ride that snapped. Pretty damn screwed. She wound up suing Six Flags: Kentucky Kingdom and getting a buttload of money.
Thought the story would be halfway relevant since we were talking about Superman themed rollercoasters.
And BTW, I love rollercoasters but I hate how I feel like I fought 10 MMA fights back to back to back after I leave the place.

shibazz- Don't let these guys get you down. You are entitled to your opinion. It's not your fault that certain people on this site reveal so much about their personal lives, you choose to comment on those aspects, and then you get flamed just because you disagree with someone else's political opinion. Granted, this might not be the proper forum. I made the mistake of doing that once, too. I guess it's okay to degrade women and make fun of the mentally handicapped, but don't you dare say anything about military/police state. So much for free speech, huh?

@ Multi I see u are holding an M249 & on the right & Mounted 50 cali on the M998 (HmmV). Where was this token @? I feel your love for serving our country, I Did so as well as some know on here @ CBM!

@ Shibazz we do get politically from time to time I have talked about stuff like this on Durkinknights post often. But lets just try to keep it in the sense of the article thou. I still support both u & Multi.
antz1104
antz1104 - 10/26/2009, 10:56 AM
@Matches: free speech is one thing; getting up on your soap box unprovoked on a comic book site to go trolling is another. And making a comment like that @ one of our own that is on here regularly and a proven patriot is a low blow that can't be excused with "I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything.." Last time I checked boob jokes and votes for Cap aren't in the same forum as Taliban and 911.

thwhtGuardian - 10/26/2009, 11:15 AM
It just seemed like that comment came way out of left field, I suppose if we we're debating something more philosophical it wouldn't have seemed so demeaning but when it comes out of the blue like that it just feels like an out right attack. I've said it before, but I feel it needs repeating I you believe in the right to free speech you should also believe in a sense of decorum. There is a time and a place for some comments however there is no time or place for spite. It's okay to express your views, but when you level them at a single person, like multi, you're just being spiteful even if you say you're not trying to be a jerk.

Can't we all just get along? I wish I had a monkey face and Roddy McDowell's voice for this....That and not to just be typing this on the computer, y'know something like seeing me in person.

Oh come on boys... I say Tear Down the Govt. and bring on the next "Revolution" ... just like on a roller coaster. I think this site is filled with political innuendo... especially ever since Captain America decided to reject the current American Govt. and their policies... i mean that is what the artists were alluding to.... especially the Watchmen movie .... so lets not forget why we are all here. Just cuz you get mad at me , doesnt mean i have to leave you to your own self enjoyment. This is the nature of this sight . All things ComicBook with a focus on cinema. There is a deep seeded relationship that comics share with Socio-Political struggles of all of human kind. But yeah i freakin love roller coasters ya sissy bastiches!

Sorry shibazz-

I don't want anymore gov't intrusion in my life other than common defence (military) and a few bridges and roads. The further Washington stays away the better. I love capitalism and choice.

phin, I love that line about needing the health care after riding bizarro, great way to keep it relevant to the topic at hand.
Just as an aside phinehas you wouldn't happen to take your handle from the phineas priesthood organization would you? I came across the term today and it stopped me. I had always thought of the biblical character but the anti-government group stuck me as well. And of course Jules verne's around the world and p.t barnum...there are a lot of phinehei out there come to think of it.

No, its strictly from the biblical hero from the account given in Numbers 25:1-13. I am not affiliated nor exalt the group you are refering. It is steeped in bitterness. Although some of their views opposing homosexuality and abortion can have basis found in Scripture, they are misogynists, and twisted with their own slant. Their opposition to interracial mixing is unfounded. Its like they are Bizarros of truth (still trying to keep it relevant! ;P)

Oh and by the way ladies and germs... my line about those who truly serve the people of our country .... those being the road makers and the park keppers, well that was not in reference to our military.... but more towards our politicians that keep us at war. I want our best and brightest to be peacekeepers . not like those who in our capitalist economy that have found a way to profit from our economic downturn by buying blocks of foreclosed properties that Citizens worked so hard to have and maintain.... just to sell them to foreign investors. The profit is high and the opportunity abounds. Is there a hero that would speak against that? One who couls save us from those ends..... Maybe it is BiZZaro!

@Phineas- do you think the Danes live in a place where Govt. runs rampant and the people live in fear. No , they don not. The truth is... most industrialized countires offer and Give Health Care to create a greater society. Heck even Multi PoPo's health care is Govt. run... i think anyways.

We're not most. I don't give a rip what other people do. You want government healthcare? Go to a "STATE" that provides it. The constitution doesn't allow the Feds to go beyond their mandate.
US Constitution
Article IV Sec. 4
Amendment X
We are not Danes. We are not Brits. We are not Canadians. I don't care if they fail or succeed with socialized medicine. Call for a change in the Constitution before trying to subvert it through this medium. The Feds are far too encroached as it is. I am growing more and more weary of this battle of these opposing philosophies. We were successful as a nation without the government, and the more they get control the less successful we are becoming. To take people's money away is retarded and immoral. I have a right to capitalize on any venture of my choosing, providing that it doesn't harm anyone. If I have more money that Midas, so be it. That's my buisness not YOURS! You have the choice and the resources to do the same as me. Its like a roller coaster.

Everything is perfect in Copenhagen, except their rollercoasters!

"not like those who in our capitalist economy that have found a way to profit from our economic downturn by buying blocks of foreclosed properties that Citizens worked so hard to have and maintain.... just to sell them to foreign investors."

1. If you lose your house, it was more than you could afford anyway. In a contraction like this, sometimes you have to eat it and go smaller.
2. We used to have protections against such behavior of block selling to foreign interests. They were penalized for not keeping with American interests, but the government changed that under the Democrat Wilson. They said those were isolationist tax laws. Hmmm... We got a bit of a Bizarro Rollercoaster going on here.

I meant no disrespect phin, I didn't know about the other stuff I just read they were anti government.

As for the health care of other countries I find that comparing their population with ours shows you why it works there:
Denmark:5,484,723
Massachusetts:6,497,967
Canada:33,212,696
California: 36,756,666
UK:60,943,912
US:304,059,724

As you can see the industrialized nations that provide health care for their citizens don't match up to the US. It's impossible to compare the way their healtcare works and how ours does simply due to the difference in the volume of people covered. There is no way to afford it never mind change the entire infrastructure in the medical world in the US. However, by looking at the population of Denmark and the care they get there if they wanted to fund free health care in just my state of Mass, then I think it could be funded...but on a national scale, that's just laughable. You have to look at countries with our population size, russia and china, both countries tried free health care but ultimately dropped it do to cost.

I've been on Bizarro, and like any six flags roller coaster although fun it was hardly worth the two hour wait.

shibazz - 10/27/2009, 3:47 AM
The best minds could argue the need or reality of a social health care program within the confines of Americas current monetary political system.... but then those minds would just be wasting there time. The fact is if it can work with only 6 million people ... then it could work with 300 million people. In effect it would create the competition you have become accustomed to. Just divide the 300 by 6 and create a "State Hood" if you will and allow them to bid for citizens to live within there prospective provinces. Where in which they would provide health care and other amenities such as better Tax opportunities and others such municipalities ...oh , i dunno ... maybe like water and road ways and heck! maybe even a Govt. Stipend like Alaska has just to live there. And you see with that you have competition...er um, Capitalism and still our own Govt. as we would have it, benefits from the benefit of fit Citizens. nuff said?
shibazz
shibazz - 10/27/2009, 3:56 AM
I will not say that you have misinterpreted a very important Document.... but i will say a certain Govt. and many of its Citizens do so... and continue to do so , for there own enjoyment. I.E. Lex Luthor, Norman Osborne, Wilson Fisk, Dr. Wolper , Two Face A.K.A. H. Dent, people who profit off the demise of others (no matter what the reason) , and so on and so forth.... unless i have something to say about it. ! Keep Fu@kin those Chickens
