Christopher Reeve Superman Action Figure Images

Next month Mattel will be releasing the 12" Christopher Reeve highly-articulated Movie Masters action figure, and what follows are images of that figure.

Describes Mattel, "[Superman] is ready to fight for humanity in a film-accurate cloth replica of his uniform. Along with a completely new, more muscular physique that befits a hero of his stature, the son of Jor-El comes with interchangeable hands (flight and punching) and a piece of the Fortress of Solitude with removable information crystals."

This figure, which includes General Zod (also being issued on December 15th) and next spring's Lex Luthor as portrayed by Gene Hackman, retails in the U.S. for $60.

Don't give a sh1t what anyone says, ROUTHY = EPIC WIN! :)

The movie sucked in places but wasn't ROUTHS fault!

Agreed, REEVES in the best Superman that there has ever been!

Christopher Reeves is the best Superman, and as far as action figures go, its decent. I just prefer action figures with no cloth to them.

Reeves was perfect for his time. Christopher Reeve made us believe that he could fly! So much so, his other roles are pretty overlooked (sadly).

But 60 bucks! Yikes!

@yossarian- LMAO =)

Reeve was great...keyword- WAS

We need a new Superman. I don't want them casting a guy just because he looks like Reeve. It is time the studio stopped "building monasteries" for Reeve so to speak and time we got a new guy who isn't "just another Reeve"

Ian Somerhalder is way too short. Superman shouldn't be shorter than Batman and Green Lantern. Matthew Goode is starting to grow on me as a potentially good choice.

As for the figure...it looks nice. It looks appropriate for the Reeve-Superman of the 80's. I won't spend 60 bucks for it but it is definitely nice.

How about this Travis Van Winkle dude as the new Clark Kent? (Hair needs to be dyed black and re-styled per CBM specs)...

@KlarkCent: I could see him as Supes. Nice suggestion.

Anybody with time and wicked Photoshop skills, please create a version of a Superman photo with his face and let's compare it with rest of the CBM candidates...

i just checked out supermanhomepage.com....

and they have an article about Chris Reeve's son, Will..

he's on 17..but...he looks an awful lot like daddy, who i think played Superman?

Not saying now, and i dont even know if he's an actor, but you can connect the dots..

Chris Reeve WAS the Superman for a generation, but that was over 25 YEARS ago. We need a NEW Superman (and one that doesn't portray the Clark Kent alter-ego as a complete dork!). As for Travis Van Winkle, he looks like Harry Potter on steriods, not the Big Blue Schoolboy!

i think you picked the pic that makes him look the least like clark kent lol. in pics ive searched, he has blonde hair, but still looks more like Supes than in that one.

i dont think hes Superman material though.

low blow and not funny.

get it? cuz he can't see. hahaha.

real comic gold.

not cool, and not funny.

George Reeves played Superman
Christopher Reeve played Superman

So ah getting the names mixed up is such an easy mistake that it seems to me that having it as a peeve is just begging to suffer. Not trying to be insulting just saying it is damn easy to do.

@loganoneil- I concur with what you said. We need a Superman for THIS generation. But maybe if I have money on the side I could buy this figure...it is a classic. I can't wait to see how crazy the merchandising will be with the new Superman film. Whoever gets the part is a lucky dude think about it- the toys, games and just being attached to one of THE MOST ICONIC names in pop-culture and comic book history! No wonder Snyder is taking his time...but I am really warming up to the idea of Matthew Goode with a CGI suit...it would go in line with Green Lantern and his CGI suit plus it would be the most different variation we have ever seen on the big screen. It will be unique for Superman films. =)

Wow! Am I the only one here who can see how gormless that figure looks? Nice idea with the clothing and all but the body looks pathetically miss-shapen and the face looks like what I imagine Reeve's face would be if he ever realised how sh*t the man he picked to be the next Superman turned out to be!
LOL

Wow, they dropped the ball on this figure.... for $60, its not even worth it. For a tribute to Chris Reeve, it's slightly criminal. There is a 13 inch Deluxe Superman figure that looks better than this.... as a matter of fact, they should have taken direct hints at that figure and used that mold and clothes and fit a better Chris Reeve head sculpt onto it rather than this one. Google it up and you will see what i am talking about.

like this link for example:

I have just started buying dc direct figures and I am getting the whole last son set for xmas.I am however also on the lookout for other Superman figures but this one looks more like a doll and does not look like Reeve at all.. with the improvements that figures have today, this is a little meh. Dc did make a Chris reeve lookalike toy a while back but Forbidden Planet near me wants 200 plus for it...
