To the Greatest Fans We Could Have Wished for,

It’s hard to know where to start. We know that we wouldn’t be writing this without you. We wouldn’t have met all the amazing people we’ve worked with over the years without you. We wouldn’t have had a chance to craft our skills, be part of the world’s greatest mythology or make a difference in people’s lives without you. For that, we are forever grateful to your support of the show. This last few weeks have been crowded with press interviews and they all ask what we hope will be the impact of Smallville. And the answer is simple because it’s the same impact the show has had on us: hope. Knowing each week there were millions of people in the world who tuned into this show because they believe in something greater, because they believe in justice, because they believe heroes exist, has humbled us and inspired us both. It’s hard to find anything in the world that is seen as pure good, and to us, that’s what Superman and Smallville is all about. Over the years, we’ve heard from many of you (we just moved into our new offices and there’s bamboo, paper cranes and flowers on our desk to remind us!). Hearing what this show has meant to people means everything to us. We cannot say thanks to fans without saying thanks to the hundreds and hundreds of people who have sunk their heart and a lot of sleepless hours into this show out of passion. No one can understand the sheer force of nature it has taken twenty-two times a year to bring this show to life. No one sees the late-night-caffeined-up hours spent in small offices both in Los Angeles and Vancouver that bring sets to life, costumes to life, words to the page, shots to screen, emotion to the camera and beautiful images that will remain in our memories.

We won’t say “goodbye,” we’ll say “til next time,”

Kelly and Brian and Everyone here in the Smallville family

Finally saw the whole piece of [frick]fest.

Yeah @JULEZ- This finale blew. Guy was CGI'd the whole time.

The suit wasn't even put to good use.

HarrisonBergeron - 5/14/2011, 12:17 AM
@Chrome- No we didn't, Tom never put on the damn suit, the closest we got was him in a Superman T-shirt, everythign else was CGI, and most of that was Brandon Routh.

The finale could have been saved with 10 more minutes - a few closeups of Welling in the suit, a Darkseid smackdown (they could have removed the Lionel smackdown to make room) and a 30 second hover over the crowd, to give Metropolis hope. As it was, the first hour was an "A", the second was a solid C+ - full credit for the emotional tugs and the timeless John William score, but points off for wimping out on not showing the more of the suit and the smackdown.

Just want to say to all you guys who are slagging off the writers and the show on an article that is about these same people; who have toiled and sweated blood to make Smallville, thanking the fans and people that have tuned into the show...I have this to say..

WHY DONT YOU ALL F**K OFF YOU IMMATURE UNGRATEFUL DISGUSTING LITTLE CHILDREN!!!

If you want to slag smallville off go do it on another article; maybe about the finale not one about a heart felt thank you letter, have a little decency and grow the f**k up!!!

I certainly loved Smallville. Of course there were disappointing moments, but it was the one time in the week that my mom and I got to spend together. She looked forward to it, and so did I. I'll miss it. Thnk you to the writers, producers and all those involved. You'll be missed.

Until next time.

I don't care what anyone else says, Thanks for 10 years of entertainment! I've been a Superman fan since I was born up to the point where DC raped the man of steel by renouncing the U.S. Yes the show was a bit silly at times and the budget that the show was given to the series was strangling at times, but "I" believe you preserved the spirit of character. I truly wish/hope there is a spin off in the horizon.

I LOVE THE SHOW, BUT THE FINALE..I JUST WISH HE WORE THE ENTIRE SUIT..10 YEARS AND ONLY THE SHIRT, HEAD CLOSE UPS, AND TINY MINI CG SUPERMANS....10 YEARS..FOR A SHIRT...YAKNOW?
icebergslick
icebergslick - 5/15/2011, 7:33 PM
@Gunsmith

EXACTLY! My thoughts as well. A CGI Cape, a chest close up of the "actual costume" and a cgi superman flying around. WEAK SAUCE!

I think it's awesome that a sci-fi/fantasy show lasted 10 years and, even when it was bad, was still watchable.

Sadly, they cheaped-out on the finale and while the speech about it "all started in Smallville" and the moment when Clark finally learned to fly were both incredible, it just didn't even accomplish what they seemed to be setting up: that is, making Clark become the first official Superhero who inspires others. How many times had they said that? Hawkman said it. Chloe said it. Dr. Fate said it. Mrs. Kent said it....

No point intro'ing early versions of all those heroes and having the "darkest" of villains turn up in the finale if the heroes don't return and Darkseid is vanquished with one punch.

superbly sad.
