We got confirmation this summer that Black Panther star Michael B. Jordan is developing a Superman TV series for the HBO Max streaming service via his Outlier Society production company, and the project now has a writing team - as well as an official title!
According to Deadline, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts scribes Darnell Metayer and Josh Peters have been tapped to pen the show, which is now known as Val Zod. This is not exactly a major surprise since it's previously been revealed that the story will focus on Earth 2's version of the Man of Steel, though this adaptation appears to have dropped the hyphen from the character's name.
There's been some speculation that Jordan may also suit-up as the title hero, but it sounds like that's far from set in stone. For now, the actor/director is only confirmed to be on board as an executive producer alongside Elizabeth Raposo and Stefano Agosto.
Val Zod is a completely separate project to the feature that's currently in the works from Ta-Nehisi Coates and J.J. Abrams, which is expected to focus on a Black incarnation of Kal-El in a period setting.
