Frank Miller, the artist and visionary behind Sin City (2005) and 300 (2006), is once again bringing us a bevy of buxom beauties and dastardly villains. This time, Miller tackles The Spirit, the late Will Eisner’s most recognizable creation.
When asked by Entertainment Weekly to describe The Spirit, Miller had this to say:
“The character has a terrifying side to him. This is a man who’s died and come back to life. So it twists into fantasy. And of course there are tons of women in it. There have to be — it’s The Spirit. They’re all in love with him, and he’s in love with all of them. You might say he’s a bit of a slut.”
With a man-hound like that as the star, it’s no wonder that Miller has surrounded his leading man with beautiful women. Though still in pre-production, Eva Mendes, Scarlett Johansson and Sarah Paulson are among the femme fatales cast opposite Gabriel Macht, the star of the picture.
The latest news has
Jaime King, the platinum heart-stopper who tamed Mickey Rourke’s anti-hero, Marv, as Goldie and her twin sister Wendy in
Sin City (2005), cast in an as-yet-undisclosed role.
The Spirit is scheduled for release January 16, 2009.
