I will cut straight to the point, i have mixed feelings about this film. For every thing good it has going for it, it has something bad.

The movie opens well in smooth pace, slowly bring  the characters but then starts to jump across iractically. Scenes dont always feel seamless. The almost 3 hour long movie is just too long, considering its not a major event in as DOTM. The marketing material totalling misleads you in regards to the DinoBots. Blink and they gone.

The concept of human designed Transformers that are created because of fear and predujice was an excellent concept but poorly executed. Rather than have them fully functional ( at begining of the movie but limited (in terms of units) would have been more exciting as the viewer could be treated to a few good battles and honourable deaths for loved Autobots. The human created Transformers tranformation was a bit extreme considering they just began the production and already exceeded the tech of the originals.

Lockdown was a highlight, very different villain from before as really refreshing. A 3 way battle with Galvatron and Prime would have been icing. His and "Frasiers's " conversations where typical but fun peeing contest and helped toughen up a otherwise boring human villain.

Primes arc was interesting, his blinding trust of humanity shattered by the betrayel of allies and death of his friends. His bitterness resonates to the end. And somewhere in the middle we see his gentler side comparing parenting scrolls with Mark.

The new more anime look bots take some getting use to but the new look Optimus truck mode is bad a**.

Finally the movie does set a new direaction and so i suppose has met its own target, but going forward drop the kids. This time they served as nothing more than distraction. Now that Mark is in as an inventor he can leave earth with the Autobots. Tucci too as his character took a good arc as can join Mark in redemption.
(T5: Redemption ]... hmmmm) The movie would have worked better if it had some fat trimmed out and more Dino time. Too short was that fight.

I would give it 3.5/5

Good review! In my honest opinion, I loved the movie. And thought it was the best one yet. But it was a little long, but other than that I loved it, and so did my son. And that's all I care about.
