THE MUMMY's Tom Cruise, MOTHER! Actress Jennifer Lawrence And More Pick Up Razzie Award Nominations

As it customary, The Razzie Award noms have come in before we get to find out which of last year's releases will be getting some Oscar love, & they're the usual mix of the obvious and the head-scratching.

The Golden Raspberry Awards, or Razzies, have been "celebrating" the worst in film since 1980, and this year's nominations have just been announced.

Surprisingly enough, the critically panned Justice League is nowhere to be found. In fact, comic book-based films managed to escape the wrath of the raspberry altogether. The closest we have are a couple of movies we covered on CBM that are up for Worst Picture: Transformers: The Last Knight and The Mummy reboot, which also picked up Worst Actor noms for their leading men.

The rest of the list holds few surprises - though it is a shock to see Jennifer Lawrence's name on here. As divisive as mother! was, her performance in Darren Aronofsky's bonkers Biblical allegory came in for almost unanimous praise.

At any rate, have a read through the main categories (more are due to be announced tomorrow) below, and let us know if you'd remove anything from or add something to the list.

Damn, when did Tyler Perry transition into a female? Good for him, as long as he's happy.

@NoMeaning45 - Yeah I guess that's just them trying to be funny.

@RorMachine - The Razzies seem to try really hard to be funny every year.

I applaud them for attempting.

Actually, I don't.

@NoMeaning45 - Yeah. The only joke is the awards themselves. It seriously comes off as wannabe filmmakers bitter about not getting anywhere in Hollywood (not even joking that's how it happened. And they seem to have the biggest hatred for filmmakers like Kubrick).

@Origame - That's so sad.

@NoMeaning45 - it is. One of the reasons I stop with awards in general.

I lost interest in these awards after last year. Their judgment of "worse" is getting worse, and somewhat personal and vindictive.

@LSHF - Yeah. like with Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas not getting the award for worst director just because it's more fun to throw shade at Michael Bay.

I don't even like the Razzies, but if Transformers doesn't win every award it's nominated for, I riot.

And I don't get why Lawrence is on there. I wasn't even crazy about the movie, but I thought she did fine. Same thing with Cruise; shitty movie, but he was OK.

@MUTO123 - Yeah they're messed up when it comes to awards. You wanna know one of the first movies with the Razzies to get multiple nominations? The Shining. And even after opinions turned around, the Razzie people still refuse to admit they might have been wrong.

Surprised Geostorm isn't on there.

@HeavyMetal4Life - I'm surprised The Snowman isn't on there. Not high-profile enough, I guess.

HeavyMetal4Life - 1/21/2018, 8:19 PM
@MUTO123 - Yeah, probably not high enough. I guess these awards are for "the big" films of the year.
MUTO123
MUTO123 - 1/21/2018, 8:22 PM
@HeavyMetal4Life - That's basically the Razzies' MO: target the most high-profile movies with the most recognizable stars that got the most trashed by the critics and the public, while paying little to no attention to the smaller movies that are just as bad if not worse.
HeavyMetal4Life
HeavyMetal4Life - 1/21/2018, 8:38 PM
@MUTO123 - Yup. Though, I do understand why they do that. You expect a bigger movie to do much better than the smaller movies (typically), and when the big movies fail its a much bigger embarrassment than say if a small movie was really bad.

And I'm kind of surprised there's nothing regarding Justice League
