During yesterday evening's The Game Awards, Splash Damage confirmed that they're developing Transformers: Reactivate, a new online action game coming to PC and consoles. Little to nothing has been revealed about the title, though we do have a brief teaser (via SFFGazette.com) that offers a first look at the project's epic stakes.

"The gravest threat to humanity has arrived," reads a brief synopsis. "And it’s already won. Earth is no longer ours; it belongs to them. All we have left is our hope for the Autobots, as we salvage them from the rubble left behind."

It's added that, "Transformers: Reactivate is a 1-4 player online action game, developed by Splash Damage, coming to PC & consoles. With the Closed Beta planned for 2023, players, press, and content creators can sign up at the links below for future updates."

You can find those links here.

Transformers fans have been clamouring for a new video game for some time now, especially with the movie franchise undergoing some big changes. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is set to be released next year, of course, though this title looks entirely standalone in nature (and not remotely like Michael Bay's approach to the series).

The fact this is an online multiplayer game suggests it won't be overly story-driven, though the narrative hinted at in this sneak peek is certainly interesting.

No release date for Transformers: Reactivate has been announced, and we still don't know which specific formats it will be available on. It looks like a fun game, though, and one we're definitely intrigued to see more from.

@Madman - it's a Josh article. You can't be surprised at the lack of proofreading.

Well, now, that looks pretty cool. And for those of you wondering: yes Hasbro will be making toys based on this game's characters (like they did with the "War for Cybertron" game). AND here's a fun fact: if you were a fan of the "WFC" toys Hasbro is going to be releasing new version of this toys as part of their 2024 line. Ain't lying.

@StSteven - pretty sure some are coming out in 2023. I'm definitely looking forward to them. I have quite a few from the old figures. I can't fracking wait for the Studio Series figures.

@tBHzHomer - Sorry, you're correct. The new WFC toys will start being released as part of the 2023 Studio Series line. It's going to include DLX Barricade, Bumblebee, Cliffjumper and Voyager Megs and OP. Here's a link to the full Studio Series line up for 2023 for anyone who is interested:

We better be able to play as actual transformers and not have to make our own “new” transformer, and please let me play as either Grimlock or Jetfire.
