TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS Creative Team Talk Twist Ending And Taking The Franchise Into Space

In the final few minutes of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, the stage is set for what could be the beginning of a Hasbro Cinematic Universe.

Yes, that long-discussed crossover finally takes place when the movie's lead, Noah, meets with a mysterious government agent who wants his help to protect the world. Who does he work for? G.I. Joe. All signs now point to the franchises colliding in the next Transformers adventure, and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura explained how it came to be during an interview with Variety (via SFFGazette.com).

"Noah goes from somebody who cannot get a job, to a guy who gets the greatest job ever. It really felt organic to put it in here because you could relate it to the story," he reveals. "It didn’t feel like we were being cynical and like, 'Good news, we could just jam G.I. Joes in here.'"

"The fans want a lot of things; if we do it and we don’t figure it out well, they’re going to be disappointed. It took us a while to figure out the Maximals, and now we have the hint of how to begin the Joes story."

The longtime Transformers producer would go on to confirm that no decisions have been made yet about which G.I. Joe characters will be thrown into the midst of this battle between the Autobots and Decepticons. He did, however, reveal that Snake Eyes is his personal favourite, so take that as you will.

As for what the team-up could look like, di Bonaventura teased, "How could they possibly not be on the same side? We don’t know, that is the truth. What we expect is there’s going to be some allegiance and they’re going to go on some kind of mission together. We have to figure both those things out."

It's a shame to learn that there are no definitive plans in place, but for what it's worth, director Steven Caple Jr. strongly hinted the franchise could be about to go cosmic.

"There are sections of the Joes that haven’t been utilized and characters that have never been touched, and I’m excited about that. I will say this about what’s next: We have spent a lot of time on Earth and I’m curious as to what else is out there..."

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is now playing in theaters.

Did I miss how they brought Bee back to life? Last I remember Optimus said the raw energon couldn't bring him back and they needed to get him to Cybertron to get refined energon.

@TheVandalore - They laid Bumblebee on an energon rock and when the beacon was turned on it amplified all the energon in the region and that reignited his spark.

@TheVandalore - he’s Optimus Prime not Optimistic Prime. He was just wrong.

@SonOfAGif - thanks. I must have missed that moment somehow.

@TheVandalore - No problem. It was during the scene when Primal told Prime to lay Bumblebee on the rock and explained that it was raw energon. Optimus had asked if it could bring Bumblebee back but Primal said it was inactive and would need a huge power surge to be possible. And when Scourge activated the beacon to summon Unicron, it sent a massive surge of energy making all the energon in the region glow.

@SonOfAGif - I was super tired when I watched it, so I guess I missed some stuff. At a certain point I kinda shut my brain off.

@TheVandalore - trailer showed Bee jumping out of the plane and also running in the final battle so his "death" weighed nothing in the movie. they may aswel have winked at the camera when it was explained to Prime that there would need to be an energy blast more powerful than anything on earth to bring him back to life too.

I want Destro to appear in the crossover and let's see a black market where to get technology from the transformers. So Destro could get a fragment of Allspark to create the ultimate weapon.

@Repian - Destro was always the real MVP of Cobra.

@CorndogBurglar - I liked most of the casting, save for Channing Hauser. The plot was something for a someone 7 waking up at 8 am.

I find it funny how the crux of the movie is how messed up the American healthcare system is.

This movie is definitely a sequel to Bumblebee since Prime mentioned Charlie. I’m so happy they rebooted this franchise. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to the future crossover.

So to recap:

The G I Joe movies were terrible, but they caused a lot of toy sales.

The TF movies are stupid, but they made billions & sold tons of toys.

they should go for broke & attempt to make the measurably stupidest movie in the history of cinema.

Transformers vs GI Joe vs Fast & the Furious.

Nobody pointing out how Noahs suit resembles the exo skeleton suits Channing Tatyum used in the original GI joe.. could explain where they got the tech
Order66
Order66 - 6/11/2023, 10:45 PM
@Matchesz - I highly doubt they’re going to connect those god awful GI Joe movies to the rebooted transformers universe. 100% reboot on the GI Joe side is the only way this crossover is successful.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 6/11/2023, 11:42 PM
@Matchesz - At some point in the OG Transformers cartoons Spike and his dad got their transforming suits that they wore. Somehow the suits didn't break every bone in their body when they transformed.

But this idea is actually straight out of Transormers.

In the Beast Wars cartoon weren't they on a primitive planet that didn't have any humans on it? I know it took place after the OG Transformers cartoons because there's an episode where Starscream's soul possesses Waspinator. So that means Starscream was already dead from the animated movie.

Am I wrong here? I don't remember any humans in that show.
Steel86
Steel86 - 6/11/2023, 11:58 PM
@CorndogBurglar - The Autobots were in hypersleep. If you remember in the og cartoon the kids found them. It takes place before the og cartoon but they find them in season two or three.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 6/12/2023, 6:08 AM
@Steel86 - That can't be right. Because like O said, Starscream is dead in Beast Wars and possesses Waspinator. Which would have to mean the events of the OG cartoon took place before Beast Wars.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 6/12/2023, 6:11 AM
@Steel86 - Here, I looked it up.

"The series is set in the future of the "original" Transformers franchise, 300 years after the events of The Transformers, and features the Maximals and Predacons, descendants of the Autobots and Decepticons respectively.[4] While engaged in battle, small teams from each faction crash land on an unknown planet, and must find a way to return home while continuing their war."

"
(In the sequel series Beast Machines, the process during which Autobots and Decepticons became Maximals and Predacons is referred to as "The Great Upgrade.")"
