TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS Promo Art Gives Us A First Look At The Maximals In "Beast Mode"

We've seen the likes of Optimus Primal, Airazor and Cheetor in their robots forms, but this new Transformers: Rise of the Beasts promo art gives us a first look at the characters in "Beast Mode."

Though the movies do have their share of defenders, it's probably fair to say that the Transformers franchise wasn't exactly the most well-regarded - at least, not prior to the release of Bumblebee.

The 2018 adventure received positive reviews and served as a relaunch of sorts, even though it didn't particularly contradict anything that happened in the previous instalments.

With director Steven Caple Jr. (Creed II; The Land) on board, Paramount Pictures will be hoping Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will be able to continue down that path of success (not that the previous movies ever flopped at the box office).

We've seen some merchandise art of these guys in robot form, but some new promo art has now been shared online (via SFFGazette.com), giving us a first look at the "Beast modes" of Maximals Optimus Primal, Cheetor, Rhinox, and Airazor.

Still no sign of a trailer, but there's a lot of speculation that a first look could screen in front of Avatar: The Way of Water next month.

Rise of the Beasts will star Anthony Ramos (In the Heights; Hamilton), Dominique Fishback (The Deuce; Judas and the Black Messiah), Luna Lauren Vélez (Dexter; Ugly Betty), and Tobe Nwigwe, with Peter Cullen (Transformers; The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh) set to return as the voice of Optimus Prime and Ron Perlman (Hellboy; Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) as the voice of Optimus Primal.

The next Transformers movie is set to hit theaters on June 9, 2023.

@MahN166A - if they have him in the movie I hope they bring back the original Beast Wars voice actor for him.

Is there a confirmed line up of bot appearances? My interest in the Beast Wars franchise begins and ends with Waspinator.

Also…..
I need to hear:

“Predacons…TERRORIZE!!”
If I don’t, I’m walking out.

And Megatron better be in it as a purple mechanized Barney!

So I'm a HUGE Transformers fan/collector (I have an entire spare bedroom full of them going back to G1 and up to and including the current "Legacy" line), and based on the various websites that I frequent, the list provided by @SteamBlust above is as much as I know as well as far as the bots' cast so far. Obviously they are holding back on a good number of reveals because that's a pretty short antagonists list, but so far there has been no mention of any other Decepticons OR Predacons. They'll likely add Rattrap, as it seems like they are sticking primarily to the original Maximal team. Also, I wouldn't get your hopes up for any beasts that you wouldn't find in the jungle, as the beast part takes place primarily in Peru (from what I understand), so chances of any dinosaurs for example (i.e. Megatron, Terrasaur, Dinobot, etc.) are pretty slim, especially as the original Dinobots were the focus of "Age of Extinction". Also remember that this movie timeline is supposed to be somewhat connected to the earlier Bayverse movies in which Megatron is currently frozen, which is why they didn't include him in that awesome opening scene on Cybertron in "BB".

A couple of other notes: (POSSIBLE SPOILERS) Prime and BB are the same vehicles as we last saw them at the end of "Bumblebee" but when they go to Peru the get off-road upgrades (Hasbro's Gott sell those toys after all ). Mirage is a Porsche, Arcee's a Ducati, and Wheeljack's a VW van. The Terrocons are NOT the G! Deception team of monsters but just a sub-faction of Decepticons, instead Scourge (leader) is a Mad Max style semi truck, Nightbird (yes modeled after the character from the G1 episode "Enter the Nightbird" is a Nissan Skyline, and Rattletrap is a tow truck.

One last note for anyone planning on picking up the toys (myself included): originally the movie was supposed to be released this summer, however it got pushed back until next year BUT the toys had already been produced (at least the ones aimed at the younger fans). There are going to be 2 main toy lines for the movie: the one for the younger fans (like the current "Cyberverse" line) and the the "Studio Series" for the older collectors which Hasbro uses for their movie related figures and are more expensive and much nicer. Because the simpler toys had already been produced, Hasbro just changed the packaging to no longer say "Rise of the Beasts" and are already releasing them (I've seen them in Target already). But they'll repackage them next year and rerelease them. The Studio Series ones won't come out until the movie does, but there are already some pics of Airrazor online (looks like a SS anyway) and she looks pretty damn awesome. So all of you who grew up with BW, that SS line is probably going to be for you.

That's all I know so far folks, but I'm sure more info is going to start coming soon, especially after the New Year, so I'll share it with y'all if it's not already covered here. In case you want to follow it yourself outside of this site, the main TF sites that I get my info from are: seibertron.com, tformers.com, and unicorn.com. I hope that's useful info for the fellow TransFans here 😊.
