DOCTOR WHO Season 14's Release Window May Have Been Revealed In Now-Deleted Post From BBC

While there's a chance the BBC got it wrong, a since-deleted article about Doctor Who's future reveals a release window for this year's 60th-anniversary specials and the show's upcoming fourteenth season!

Three Doctor Who specials are set to be released later this year, with David Tennant (Jessica Jones) returning to the sci-fi franchise to play the Fourteenth Doctor.

Looking beyond that, Sex Education and Barbie star Ncuti Gatwa will be next to take on the role of the iconic time-traveller, with Millie Gibson's (Coronation Street) Ruby Sunday at his side.

In a now-deleted post from the BBC Culture website (via SFFGazette.com), a release window for both Tennant and Gatwa's Doctor Who episodes has seemingly been confirmed, and it seems we don't have long to wait before the series makes its highly-anticipated return.

The anniversary episodes currently have a November release window, with the Christmas special scheduled for December (obviously). As for season 14, that's reportedly heading our way in Spring 2024, news bound to excite fans eager for more Doctor Who

Returning showrunner Russell T Davies recently confirmed that work had wrapped on season 14 after filming kicked off last December. We've previously heard the plan is for BBC to jump right into season 15 (as a UK-based production with British actors, the SAG-AFTRA strike is unlikely to come into play).

Everything we've seen from Davies' return to the franchise suggests the beloved show has been given a fresh lick of paint, and casting Hollywood stars like Jonathan Groff and Neil Patrick Harris is sure to increase interest among casual viewers and non-fans alike.

With the show set to find a home on Disney+ outside the UK, Doctor Who will soon have its biggest audience. What's said to be a significant budget increase should help it feel more in line with The Mandalorian and Star Trek: Discovery, for example, and the next couple of years should be exciting for new and old fans alike.

While this release window isn't confirmed and may, in fact, have been an error, we're optimistic that the show will head our way in the first half of 2024. For now, though, we'd guess the BBC and Disney+ will want to keep the focus on those upcoming specials.

As always, you'll be able to find the latest Doctor Who over on SFFGazette.com!
