Shooting on Doctor Who's upcoming 60th-anniversary special continues, and some new photos from the show's set in Bristol, England, feature some potentially huge reveals.
As you can see below (via SFFGazette.com), David Tennant has been spotted on set as the Tenth Doctor, albeit in a new costume that has reminded many fans of the trenchcoat once worn by John Barrowman's Captain Jack Harkness. Catherine Tate was also seen, though it was Neil Patrick Harris' mysterious villain who has generated the most attention online thus far.
After first being announced as part of the special's cast by showrunner Russell T. Davies a few days ago, there was speculation that he might be playing the Celestial Toymaker from the classic series. However, in these shots, The Matrix Resurrections star looks more like an evil ringleader, and there's even a moment where he shares a dance with the befuddled Tenth Doctor.
While all this chaos is ensuing, extras can be seen fleeing in fear of whatever's happening.
We still don't know what the deal is with the Tenth Doctor's return, but Davies has said Harris' villain is the greatest foe this sci-fi icon has ever faced. There's been no sign of the Fourteenth Doctor, Ncuti Gatwa, on the Doctor Who special's set yet, though we're guessing BBC will share an official image before he's inevitably snapped by the paparazzi.
