SPOILERS: The Spin-Off Team Assembles In New Set Photos From THE FLASH

Many people questioned how and why an odd mix of heroes and villains would team up - including a dead Canary and a villainous Captain Cold, but it seems like the finale of The Flash (or Arrow?) will set up that team.

Instagram user punkd_images posted this....

Featured here are most (but not all) the team including Atom, Captain Cold, Hawkgirl, Proffessor Stein, and a very much alive Sara Lance aka Canary.

The currently untitled spin-off show is set to air in 2016 on the CW and stars Brandon Routh, Caity Lotz, Wentworth Miller, Victor Garber, Dominic Purcell, Arthur Darvill, and Ciara Renee.

Let me know when season 1 is complete and finished. [frick]ing mid season breaks turned me off this show.

Sara's return is easy to explain, the Lazarus Pit. But Captain Cold? How the hell do you explain him being there and them not kicking him to a bloody pulp

Something screams Flashpoint. So Captain Cold is a hero maybe?

@KurtWagner1225

Seeing as the Laurel complaints (pointless and hilariously off) have gone down significantly this season I would't say that...but I do find it hilarious that her death is essentially what'drove Season 3...Roy's (possible) death, Ra's showing up, Oliver's "death", etc... and now they just negate it all
TheRockmore

@CommanderShepard

So the only thing different in this Flashpoint universe is that Cold is a hero?....seems unlikely...

Clearly Oliver still knows Barry and vice versa, Ray is still the Atom....not enough change for it to be a "new universe"

So now Captain Cold knows Oliver's identity... This is so weird, I have no idea where they're going with this.

"Sara's return is easy to explain, the Lazarus Pit."

Except both Nyssa and Ra's had access to it this season and neither chose to use it for over 8 months (Season 3)

I don't believe they are doing a Flashpoint event. Time travel, yes. Flashpoint, no.
ATOM and Stein are the brains.
Hawkgirl and Sara are the muscle.
Captain Cold is the rogue that is planning something on the side. I believe that he will be the Wells/Eobard of the show. He is incredibly smart and knows how to plan ahead even better than any other hero.

You said that that's Hawkgirl on the right of Cap Cold, but I think it may be his sister Lisa Snart/Golden Glider.

@Arrowverse Nyssa didn't have access. Ra's didn't even like Sara, why bring her back? If Nyssa even tried it Ra's would've killed Sara and why would she go against her father? She wanted to be the leader of the League, even now she won't go against him.

I had hoped Ollie wouldn't have that suit anymore at the end of either Arrow or Flash, but ehh....he better have something different next season then.

@Kr08

Nyssa didn't have access? The Pit was in no way protected lol...clearly Nyssa knew of its existence AND has defied her father before...I doubt she wouldn't put 2 and 2 together. I'm doubtful she would be like "OK my father has this pit that could (we don't know if this version does) bring back the dead", "I have defied him before", "this death impacts me in a huge way"..."but I won't defy him again"...

If its the Lazarus Pit and Ra's wouldn't do it and Nyssa " doesn't have access" then are you suggesting it is Oliver? Because that would pretty quickly cancel out the "Roy dies" theory...because if he tosses one 8+month old dead body in why not one that would be less then a month old?

@KurtWagner1225 Yea seems kind of weird

@MisterSuperior I personally have hopes for the "designs" Cisco mentioned at the end of the crossover

@Owlman88

Again I have to ask what about this "screams Flashpoint"?

Cold is a hero...that is all that is different...

No new costumes, no new relationships, no new conflict? Oliver is even BACK in his old suit...he isn't wearing the League Suit....

If anything it would seem they are making Cold the "Pied Piper" in the sense that he will be semi reformed

Kr08 - 4/12/2015, 11:00 AM
@Arrowverse She wouldn't even bother to help Oliver stop Maseo from killing people. How was the Pit not protected? Because of one scene where Ra's is talking to Oliver alone? It's called dismissing the soldiers. She wanted the League more than anything she claimed it as a birthright and show didn't want to compromise that. Nyssa defied her father in small things compared to using HIS Pit.
It could be Oliver but I'm not suggesting that, if anything it could be both Laurel any Nyssa. Maybe Nyssa tells Laurel stories of her father's immortality and when they go to Nanda Parbat for some Oliver reason, Laurel seizes the moment. Maybe through some big battle Laurel sneaks in.

What and they just happen to bring Sara's body?

Nyssa - "We're off to Nanda to fight my father"
Laurel - "Ok lemme just grab something"

*Digs up sisters body and puts her in carry on case*

Laurel - "Got it"

lol

I just can't wait until Cisco gets his powers and becomes VIBE! I don't know how they'll do it though. They might not go the Boom Tube route like the New 52. Although they will probably give him the New 52 powers just not origin of those powers. Maybe during a fight between the Flash and Reverse Flash they open a Speed Force portal and Cisco gets caught in it like he did in the Boom Tube and it gives him his powers.

Kr08
Kr08 - 4/12/2015, 11:07 AM
@Arrowverse I'm not saying they both do it. I'm saying Laurel. Laurel throughout the season has shown no fear towards Ra's because she couldn't care less. She is the retarded wild card of the show that does things without caring for the consequences. Boom, there you have it. lol
TheRockmore
TheRockmore - 4/12/2015, 11:08 AM
@Kr08

Wells whats interesting is that Cisco gives Laurel her Canary Cry Collar in Episode 19 of the Flash....both of their "powers" are based on sound displacement, so that could be the catalyst or "cool idea" that drives Cisco to become Vibe.

TheRockmore - 4/12/2015, 11:09 AM
@Kr08 I know but:

A) Still doesn't solve the whole "bringing the body without anyone noticing" thing

B) She is far from "the retarded wild card of the show that does things without caring for the consequences" she's emotionally driven overall...the polar opposite of Oliver who shuts out all emotion

@SirSpamsAlot

" Iron Man ripoff shit."

Persona and Characterization: Is Ray Palmer rich in the comics? No ... Could he be? Probably BUT Is Ted Kord rich in the comics? To some degree...yes, yes he is.

Why mention Ted Kord? Despite Ted Kord's wealth being not as assured as Oliver Queen's and Bruce Wayne's (he was always wasting it here and there and needing to formulate "get rich quick" schemes to keep his company, Kord Industries afloat) Ted Kord was comparatively wealthy. Not only was Ted Kord wealthy, but Ted Kord was set to appear on Arrow in its third season in the exact role played by Ray Palmer. Kord Industries was being set up with easter eggs dating back all the way to Arrow's first season, something many fans seem to forget. Executives had planned on using Ted Kord even up until the casting call, which searched for a character by the name of "Dan" (an homage to the first Blue Beetle, Ted Kord being the second) when casting for Ted Kord. It was a mere 2-3 weeks prior to the first episode of Season 3 being shot that executives of Arrow released a statement saying that WB had now made Ted Kord "off limits due to other plans" and that they would now be using Ray Palmer instead, this should explain the reasoning behind Palmer Industries and Ray's newfound non-comic wealth. They were not "ripping off" Tony Stark, they merely had a character, who did have money set up as a plot point for Season 3 who they had to quickly sub-out for another similar character.

As for Brandon Routh's portrayal of the character, many people call this male version of a Felicity a "ripoff of Tony Stark". "Male version of Felicity" may be an exaggeration, but besides being a smart guy with a lot of money, the comparisons really stop there.

Tony Stark - Rich - Jerk, Arrogant, Throws Money Left and Right
Ray Palmer (CW) - Rich - Funny, Charismatic, Thus Far Pretty Cautious With His Money

The two characters have little in common past the vast wealth and charming smile, and before Iron Man (2008) and RDJ's portrayal, Iron Man wasn't nearly as cocky and arrogant as he is now.

Suit: "Ah he wears a suit...Iron-Man Lite!" ... Except... aside from looking more humanoid then most suits, Tony's armor and Ray's exo-suit serve two completely different purposes. Whereas Tony's armor essentially functions for him, what he lifts, is lifted by the suit not him, Ray's suit merely enhances his own strength, hence the name "exo-suit". Also, this is not the first time Ray Palmer has worn an exo-suit, in both Brightest Day and some of his New 52 appearances Ray has been seen sporting an exo-layer over his typical costume, the design was simply changed. Ray has also been seen to use numerous "ray-guns" (pun intended) of his own invention...those...were simply built into this exo-suit.

By the logic used above characters like: Steel, Rocket Red, Lex Luthor (in his war suit), Iron Lad, Doctor Doom, and many others also rip off Iron Man...

Lastly, there is one key element that everyone overlooks...the project Ray began working on was originally called "OMAC" a reference to the "One Man Army Core" of DC comics. Despite not being struck by Brother Eye and becoming an enhanced being, Ray's initial exo-suit build certainly is allowing him to become a version of an "One Man Army Core", and I am sure that the suit will become more streamlined once Ray discovers the ability to shrink. Why does he not shrink right away?... Ted Kord is the answer once again...he wasn't supposed to have a secondary ability, that was a complete curveball thrown to the writers when they were told to replace Kord with someone else and they chose Palmer. Ted Kord, unlike Ray Palmer, is just a guy in a suit using his inventions to do good, no amazing abilities needed...

@Arrowverse Don't encourage SirSpam, It's Dexter. Vibe's powers aren't just sound based, they are interdimensional powers as well.
"When a Boom Tube opened up on Cisco Ramon he was trapped in between dimensions for a matter of seconds. Enough time elapsed before he was pulled out and began vibrating between physical planes. While not always visible, Vibe is constantly vibrating at a frequency of a Boom Tube."
"Vibe can emit powerful vibrations from his body. He normally focuses this energy through his hands to create shock waves powerful enough to level a house or shake a Parademon to pieces."

@Arrowverse

I don't know about Cisco making Ollie's next suit. While Cisco did say he had some ideas, I would prefer to see Ollie making his own suit once he takes over his own company again and using his own sources in making a suit, ala Ray using Queen Consolidated/Palmer Technologies' sources in creating his A.T.O.M. exosuit.

I'm honestly caring less and less about these shows. The Flash is still my favorite TV show, but I think the main reason for that is because they please the fans with nostalgia. If this had been a movie like it was supposed to, it wouldn't have been very good. Just some thoughts. Not hating.
