The White House Posts Trump As Green Lantern Hours Before Lanterns Episode 4

The White House posted an AI video of President Donald J. Trump as a Green Lantern with the Corps oath as the caption, hours before Lanterns episode 4.

The official White House X account posted an AI-generated video of President Donald Trump as Green Lantern on Sunday evening, using the character’s oath as the caption. This also happened hours before HBO aired episode 4 of Lanterns.

The post, from The White House X page, reads in full:

"In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil's might beware my power... Green Lantern's light!"

The attached video shows Trump in a suit with a glowing green power ring. Constructs from the ring include a border wall in a desert landscape in front of a group of people, factory buildings, and U.S. military ships and aircraft. The clip ends on Trump holding the ring with ships and planes behind him with Flashing Lights by Kanye West playing. The post does not name Lanterns, DC Studios, or Warner Bros. Discovery in the caption. The immigration, manufacturing, and military images are obviously AI generated. Check it out down below:

The Green Lantern Corps oath quoted in the caption is the standard Hal Jordan-era oath used across comics, animation, and live action that all fans know well.

Arriving at the same time as Lanterns new episode

Lanterns episode 4, "The Weenie," premiered Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and HBO Max. The series stars Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart. James Gunn and Peter Safran are among the executive producers. Episode 3 drew a series-high 10 million viewers globally and 7 million in the U.S. after three days, according to Variety figures previously reported here. The pilot has been reported above 20 million worldwide.

The White House video went up the same evening as that new episode. DC has not posted about the White House clip on its official channels.

This is the fourth time in 13 months the White House account has posted Trump in a major franchise costume or poster style. Two of those four used are DC characters.

July 10, 2025: Trump’s face on the Superman suit and cape. Caption: “THE SYMBOL OF HOPE. TRUTH. JUSTICE. THE AMERICAN WAY. SUPERMAN TRUMP.” The post landed the night before James Gunn’s Superman opened. After criticism, the White House account posted: "Nowhere in the Constitution does it say we can't post banger memes." A circulating claim that DC or Warner Bros. would file a $1 billion lawsuit was rated false by Snopes. No public statement from DC Studios, Warner Bros. Discovery, Gunn, or Safran was issued.

May 4, 2026: Trump as Din Djarin with Grogu and an American flag for Star Wars Day. Caption included "This is the way. May the 4th be with you." The post ran as Disney and Lucasfilm promoted The Mandalorian & Grogu. No public response from Lucasfilm or Disney was found in contemporary coverage.

May 16, 2026: An AI James Bond-style poster using "Make America Great Again," posted after Amazon MGM opened 007 audition news. No public response from Amazon MGM or Eon was found.

September 6, 2026: Trump as a Green Lantern, oath as caption, video as described above.

Rights holders have not issued a public statement on any of the four posts. DC’s silence after the Superman image, posted on the eve of its own film, is the only prior DC example. The Green Lantern post is the second DC character in that sequence, and the first to land on a night Lanterns itself was on the air.

DC Studios and Warner Bros. Discovery have not announced legal action over the Superman post or the new Green Lantern video. The $1 billion lawsuit rumor attached to the Superman meme was debunked. No studio comment on licensing, fair use, or official co-sign has been published for either DC image.

Gunn and Safran produce Lanterns for DC Studios and HBO. They have not posted or given any comments about Sunday’s White House video.

Episode 5 of Lanterns is scheduled for September 13. Whether DC addresses the White House post before then is the open question. Sound off with your comments and thoughts below! (Remember the rules and to keep it clean and peaceful!)

@vectorsigma - I really hope so. Need Marvel to do more crazy shit like Civil War as a Cap film in response to Bat man vs Superman.

Forget those weirdos.

As far as tonight’s episode, I feel like it was fairly obvious Zoe was an alien but that’s why I think it might be a red herring. In the immortal words of Charles R Barkley: I may be wrong but I doubt it.

If these garbage pieces of shit Hal Jordan or John Stewart is qualified for the ring, so is Trump.

Reboot the MCU and DCU

It's so weird how easily Trump can trigger such animated responses in both the positive and the negative. He is literally living rent free in a lot of people's head. Me? Life is too short to obsess over anyone.

@Amaru - oh I have principles and a backbone. I am a 20 year vet. However making silly hateful or overly positive comments about politics on a comicbook site seems unproductive and downright funny to me. Anyone making these comments on here I have to ask you, did anything change because of it? Probably not.

@defenderofthefaith - It's weird to you that the most powerful man on the planet, one who affects the lives of people daily, can get people animated?
SonOfAGif

@defenderofthefaith - Life is too short to obsess over anyone yet the entire American Government continues to inject itself into every aspect of our lives to constantly put the President above any and all things we find entertaining. It's dystopian.

@FireGunn - on a comicbook site? Yes
defenderofthefaith
defenderofthefaith - 9/7/2026, 1:22 AM
@SonOfAGif - But what do you hope to gain by mentioning it on a comicbook website? You really think it's going to change anything by mentioning it on here? There is a place and time for everything. Politics on a comicbook site is not the place or time.

Much like the constructs, the manufacturing and border patrol only exist in Trump's mind and his delusional supporters. The only wall he actually supports is for Israel and the only manufacturing he supports is weapons for them.

This shit posted from the White House account is beyond cringe and represents how infantile arrested development and retarded america is.

This is Idiocracy levels of stupid.
