According to Deadline, stunning British actress Melanie Liburd (The Grinder, Strike Back, Dracula, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation) has joined season 6 of HBO's Game Of Thrones as a character known only as The Red Priestess. Of course, we already have one Red Priestess: the pyromaniac cloths-hater known as Melisandre (Carice Van Houten).

Deadline suggests that this might be a "new incarnation" of that character, but it's far more likely that Liburd is simply playing another R'hllor-worshiper. Some leaked script details from a couple of months ago outlined a scene in which Tyrion and Varys converse with a "red woman", so unless that was supposed to be Melisandre and she wasn't named for some reason, mystery solved.

Game Of Thrones is currently shooting, and should return next April.

Besides, now the show is completely divorced from the books (thank you, Mountain That Never Writes), they can just make up anything they want, so it will be interesting to see what they do with the characters and what fresh hells they will just invent.

Can't wait for Winds of Winter, it should be out about the time The Inhumans film is released.

Then the final book, around 2051 or so.

Well, it's not like Melisandre even was the only Red Priestess seen in the series so far; Rila Fukushima already played another in a bit role in season 5.

She's not replacing Melisandre. Carice is filming in Northern Ireland(The North) and this woman is filming in Spain(Mereen). A fan snapped a shot of her filming a scene where she's grandstanding in the street and a crows is gathering to listen.

I do recall that there was a red priestess in Braavos when Tyrion and Penny was there. Perhaps that's her? If I'm not mistaken Tyrion showed curiosity towards her.

There is a whole religion of Red priests and priestesses, so of course she isn't replacing Carice. She's freaking hot though.
