Fans of George R.R. Martin's novels have been wondering if this would be the season that we would see the infamous "Red Wedding". I'm not going to go into any detail on what that is as it is a MAJOR spoiler for those that are unfamiliar with the Song Of Ice And Fire saga, but lets just say it should leave everyone pretty devastated. We all wondered if it might be left until season 4, as the third book in the series is apparently being split in two, but Dan Weiss and David Benioff seem to confirm that we will indeed witness it this season.

“There’s major massive events happening like I don’t think we’ve ever had before,” Weiss says. One particular “Scene Which Shall Not Be Named,” as Benioff called it, left the Thrones team devastated. “I’ve never seen the crew so emotional,” Benioff says. “If the scene has that effect on the people making it who know what’s coming, if they’re that overpowered, I think it’s going to have an overwhelming effect on people watching it.”

^^ There's no way anyone doesn't know what's coming. All non-readers have to do is wikipedia it. Most people will give in to their curiosity. The only way this is going to surprise anyone is by how graphic the presentation is.
