Summers span decades, winters can last a lifetime, and the struggle for the Iron Throne has begun. It will stretch from the south, where heat breeds plots, lusts and intrigues; to the vast and savage eastern lands; all the way to the frozen north, where an 800-foot wall of ice protects the kingdom from the dark forces that lie beyond.Kings and queens, knights and renegades, liars, lords and honest men… all will play the ‘Game of Thrones.’

A new original series based on George R.R. Martin’s best-selling ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ series.

I thought the first episode was fantastic. The acting was great and the visuals were very good. It's been awhile since I've read the first book but it seemed to follow it very well. I think the casting was good except the queen. I think she is hot as he'll but in the book I thought she was in her early 20 and to die for. I like there choice but seemed the most off for me. Can not wait for next weeks episode.

There are two graphic novels that are a prequel to the novels, they came out about 4 or 5 years ago and are available to order. They're called "Hedge Knight" and are written by George R R Martin as well, so there's your comic link!

I loved the first episode! The only two things that I could really nitpick at are Jaime and Cersei don't look enough alike. In the novels they both have long blonde hair and look almost identical. The other thing that bugged me was that Dany was too old. I guess I can see why they made Dany older because as this goes on she gets into more and more violent and sexual situations and you can't have a twelve year old playing that role but they could have done a better job with the Lannister's.

@Tortured There were comics set in this world published several years back. Edit Ceejay beat me to it.

I enjoyed the first episode but I can see where it would be a lot to take in for someone unfamiliar with the novels.
