@ExSOLDIER Unless they combined Gryff with Trystane, like some have speculated, it looks like he is completely gone

Looks like their completely skipping over book 4 which is kind of a shame cause it could have allowed Martin more time to finish book 6.
Also what does Dany mean when she says I'm going to break the wheel.

They aren't completely skipping over book 4. They will definitely have Sansa and Little Finger in the Vale and they have cast most everyone from Dorne. They may even have a couple episodes with Jaime in the Riverlands since photos have leaked of his sister in trouble. I just hope they don't cut everything from the Iron Islands.

Damn, sounds like we won't get (f)Aegon. I hope I'm wrong. Maybe they edited the video this way to throw us book-readers off.

Drogon looks [frick]ing HUGE!
This season looks like another huge battle at the near climax of the season. The Baratheon, Nightswatch and Wildlings join forces to [frick] up the Freya and Boltons maybe.

One of the greatest shows to grace the small screen. I almost feel for the ones who read the books and can't seem to watch the show with a clear mindset. No doubt GoT books, like all books, give richer detail and even more characters than we get to see onscreen. But really if you can't enjoy this show because you are blinded by some false superiority complex reading the GoT books gives some people, perhaps the "moving picture shows" aren't really for you.

I'm too excited for this. Drogon looks great. It loooks lke they changed Tyrion's story a lot. Maybe they skipped over his story in book 5...

The trailer looks good with lots of interesting stuff. I'm kind of mixed about what they are leaving out and putting in. The whole Young Griff storyline in the story was a complete waste for me so leaving it out of the series is really smart. What I have a problem with is leaving out the whole Lady Stonehart storyline with Jamie in the Riverlands. Why is he in Dorne? The Riverlands storyline brings together Gendry, Brienne, Jamie and Lady Stark. I don't get why they are abandoning all that in favor of Dorne. There was some interesting story lines that developed there but they really didn't go anywhere in the books so far. I can see putting it in per the books because it introduced us to another kingdom of the seven. There's plenty of room to spruce it up but I thought the Riverlands story line had a lot more gravity to it. But we'll see.
They've done an excellent job of enhancing the book material so far so I have faith in DB and Dave. So, I'm excited to see how it all comes out for season 5.

I have always been a purist in as much as the show should have followed the books to the letter. I feel that leaving or changing things just for the sake of artistic license is an insult, not only to the author and the integrity of the story, but to the fans as well. I am a huge fan of the series, but I would have loved to have seen things they way Martin had written them in the books. I am anxious to see how season 5 plays out. Jamie in Dorne? That right there is a complete waste of time. That whole story line with Myrcella being taken and almost killed by Darkstar is an integral part ofthe story line, just like young Griff. We shall see what we shall see.

the song of ice and fire is ragnarok.
the magical forces of fire and ice uniting and the coldest and warmest countries joining forces versus everyone else.

bran = fenrir the giant "bound" wolf who will bring down the WALL and eat the sun
(triggering the long night)

jamie lanister is tyr, a war god who lost his hand for binding fenrir....

blah blah blah

@elcid - Each season is only 10 episodes long and they only have 7 seasons to go through it. How isn [frick]ing Hell are they going to fit the entire books chacters and storlines into the HBO series. It's impossible. Some things they change not because they want to change them but because they have to to run a more linear story. If they wanted to include Stoneheart, Euron and Young Gryff or Aegon or the Golden Company and the Blackfyres or about a ceasless amount of information crammed into one 1 hour show each week it wouldn't be a show it would be a [frick]ing mess because nobody would have proper time to shine.

Get it?

And how is Jamie in Dorne a complete waste of time? Have you seen it? Do you KNOW what will happen? It might be revealed to be even better than the books like the show has been doing since season 1!

the show better than the books?
um. no.
not even an opinion, a fact.

@ckal - Euron and Victarion Greyjoy not included in this season is a curious desicion. Those characters are MONEY. Like Oberyn Martell.

Anyway, this season seems more GLOBAL in scale with Dorne and Bravvos playing major backdrops that already include Mereen, Kings Landing, The Wall, more of The Vale.

What a TERRIBLE version of David Bowie's "Heroes"!

And I'm not fond of the changes to the story, but I'll certainly watch this next season with interest.

But Trudy, Euron and Victarion and the whole struggle for the throne of the Iron Islands was one of the most BORING parts of Game of Thrones. I skimmed over this chapters. Complete ennui.
