GAME OF THRONES Season 7 Directors Revealed; There Are Reportedly Only 13 Episodes Left In The Whole Series

Though it has yet to be made official by HBO or the showrunners, it's being reported that there's only going to be 13 more episodes of Game of Thrones, which will be divided into a two shorter-than-average seasons. That remains to be seen, but with Dany and her impressive entourage setting sail for Westeros in the season 6 finale, it's hard to imagine that there's too much more story to cram in before she launches her campaign to seize the Iron Throne from the newly-crowned Cersei Lannister.

The number of directors lined up to helm the next batch of episodes definitely suggests we'll be looking at a shorter season, anyway.

According to EW, that's going to be Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World, Terminator: Genisys), Jeremy Podeswa (Boardwalk Empire), Mark Mylod (Shameless, Entourage), and newcomer Matt Shakman (Mad Men, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia).

Fans will surely be disappointed that the director of the superb final two season 6 instalments, Miguel Sapochnik, won't be back - but hopefully we'll see him for the eighth (and presumably final) season.

@MattBellissimo - I just don't want a rushed ending. They put a lot of time into this series. That is my only concern. But I'm sure it'll be great. Just me being selfish hahaha
