Production has been paused on House of the Dragon season 2 due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. However, a newly surfaced photo and video from the set of season 2 (via SFFGazette.com) showcases a location which should be instantly familiar to Game of Thrones fans.
Yes, it appears we're returning to the Wall!
Interestingly, the Wall never appears in the section of Fire and Blood being adapted by HBO's prequel series. If we connect the dots, though, we'd guess that Jace Targaryen is the one who ventures this far North after his mother, Rhaneyra Targaryen, sent him to Winterfell to seek out Lord Cregan Stark.
Jace and Cregan grew close in the books, so the latter may decide to show him somewhere he's only ever heard of. We're sure this would also be a welcome opportunity for HBO to further link the spin-off series up with Game of Thrones.
It's worth noting we can't discount the possibility of a flashback depicting the moment Jace's great-great-grandfather, King Jaehhaerys Targaryen visited Winterfell, only for his wife, Alysanne, to discover her dragon Silverwing would refuse to cross the Wall (hinting at sinister threats beyond).
House of the Dragon season 2 doesn't have a release date and is likely to be delayed due to the strikes. However, we do know it will only consist of eight episodes instead of ten.
Back in April, Gayle Rankin, Simon Russell Beale, Freddie Fox, and Abubakar Salim were announced to have joined the show for its second season as Alys Rivers, Ser Simon Strong, Ser Gwayne Hightower and Alyn of Hull, respectively.
