Production has been paused on House of the Dragon season 2 due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. However, a newly surfaced photo and video from the set of season 2 (via SFFGazette.com) showcases a location which should be instantly familiar to Game of Thrones fans.

Yes, it appears we're returning to the Wall!

Interestingly, the Wall never appears in the section of Fire and Blood being adapted by HBO's prequel series. If we connect the dots, though, we'd guess that Jace Targaryen is the one who ventures this far North after his mother, Rhaneyra Targaryen, sent him to Winterfell to seek out Lord Cregan Stark.

Jace and Cregan grew close in the books, so the latter may decide to show him somewhere he's only ever heard of. We're sure this would also be a welcome opportunity for HBO to further link the spin-off series up with Game of Thrones.

It's worth noting we can't discount the possibility of a flashback depicting the moment Jace's great-great-grandfather, King Jaehhaerys Targaryen visited Winterfell, only for his wife, Alysanne, to discover her dragon Silverwing would refuse to cross the Wall (hinting at sinister threats beyond).

House of the Dragon season 2 doesn't have a release date and is likely to be delayed due to the strikes. However, we do know it will only consist of eight episodes instead of ten.

Back in April, Gayle Rankin, Simon Russell Beale, Freddie Fox, and Abubakar Salim were announced to have joined the show for its second season as Alys Rivers, Ser Simon Strong, Ser Gwayne Hightower and Alyn of Hull, respectively.

Take a closer look at what appears to be House of the Dragon's take on the Wall below.

Build the wall and get the white walkers to pay for it. Make Westeros Great Again
Usernametaken - 8/3/2023, 1:49 PM
@UncleHarm1 - damn walkers took our minimum wage assassination jobs.

"No Business Being In The Prequel"

Says who? This show is a spin off with a new story, so how could we know what and where things will happen?
SATW42 - 8/3/2023, 2:19 PM
@Usernametaken - well, it's not entirely a new story, it's based on the companion book Fire and Blood. There is source material here, it's not entirely original.
mountainman - 8/3/2023, 4:35 PM
@Usernametaken - There is a book that tells the complete story that this show is adapted and the Wall was never in it.

This isn’t too major of a deviation from the source though, so it’s not a huge deal.
Usernametaken - 8/3/2023, 5:33 PM
@SATW42 - So you're telling me GRR martin has been doing sidequests all this time instead of finishing the main one.

My bad then, I though the show was an original story.
DrTragggerr - 8/4/2023, 4:50 AM
@Usernametaken - What? What are you even sayin?
ModHaterSLADE - 8/3/2023, 1:51 PM
Glad he knows better than the showrunners what to do with this.

@joshwilding hack reporting. Production has not seized this is a UK production you imbecile. Take a junior college journalism course for the good of your readers' sanity. S2 hasn't stopped production. Same with Rings of Abortion both productions are continuing on.

I’m surprised so many people would watch this show after the last one
McMurdo - 8/3/2023, 4:20 PM
@KaioKen - s1 was God tier that's why.
mountainman - 8/3/2023, 4:37 PM
@KaioKen - As someone who was incredibly disappointed by the final seasons of Game of Thrones, I had read the Fire & Blood book and had hope since it was completed. Glad I gave it a chance. It’s excellent. I’d even say it’s a better Season 1 than GOT Season 1 is. And the show runners won’t have to make up the ending.
Typhoon20 - 8/3/2023, 4:03 PM
This show feels like a soap opera.

It's only interesting when Daemon is on screen.I'll watch as long as he's on the show when they off him I'll be done as well.
This whole Rhaenyra x Alicent love story telenovela style is utterly boring. So much screentime on that when it got boring after 2-3 episodes already. I just want everyone to die already lol.
McMurdo - 8/3/2023, 4:21 PM
@Typhoon20 - not all of us have ADHD buddy. Have you tried speed?
mountainman - 8/3/2023, 4:39 PM
@Typhoon20 - I also found the Sea Snake compelling in the first season but you’re right Damon is the GOAT.

Here’s the fun part, the book story gets a lot better in the stuff that is upcoming. The Targaryen civil war is just getting started!
