"Dreams didn't make us kings. Dragons did."

HBO has released the first teaser trailer for House of the Dragon, the Game of Thrones spinoff based on George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood. The series, which is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, tells the story of House Targaryen and promises to fill in some big gaps in Westeros history.

This sneak peek features the first official footage from the highly anticipated series, and spotlights several previously announced cast members along with some new additions.

In the trailer, we see Wil Johnson as Ser Vaemond Velaryon (younger brother to Coryls Velaryon and commander in the Velaryon navy), John Macmillan as Ser Laenor Velaryon (son of Corlys Velaryon and  Rhaenys Targaryen), Savannah Steyn as Lady Laena Velayron (daughter of Corlys Velaryon and Rhaenys Targaryen), and Theo Nate as Ser Laenor Velaryon (son of Corlys Velaryon and Rhaenys Targaryen).

Paddy Considine (The Outsider), Olivia Cooke (Ready Player One), Emma D’Arcy (Truth Seekers), Matt Smith (Doctor Who), Steve Toussaint (It’s a Sin), Eve Best (The King’s Speech), Rhys Ifans (The Amazing Spider-Man) and Sonoya Mizuno (Ex Machina) have all also signed on for the series.

This teaser doesn't reveal much, but it certainly sets the tone for the show. Visually, it does at least look a little different to Game of Thrones, so it will hopefully feel like a worthy addition to the canon. Many fans are still up in arms about that finale, so HBO will have to do a lot to earn their forgiveness.

@RokoVII - The ending for this story has already been written though, so hopefully we’re safe.

I had enough of these series with the last 2 seasons

This doesn't look all that interesting to be honest. This kinda feels like world filler for the universe of Game of Thrones. Enough other fantasy drama shows that I'm more invested in right now than that universe

@LilJimmy - fool, do you realise they have the source material, because Martin on the board with this show? Maybe just look things before talking shit.

I'll give the first episode a try,if it doesn't capture my attention then I won't be watching. The last two seasons have really put me off Game Of Thrones.

I’m rewatching GOT now. Damn, that was some good TV (mostly). I’m looking forward to this.

@PerrinNation1 - The show was great up until Jon Snow died. I think the problem was they ran of books to adapt and had to make it up as they went along.
IronMan616
IronMan616 - 10/5/2021, 8:10 AM
@marvel72 - They weren't making it up, well, not for the most part. GRRM gave D & D the main plot points and D & D "filled in the blanks".
marvel72
marvel72 - 10/5/2021, 11:23 AM
@IronMan616 - Yeah but everything was poorly thought out and written. It use to take a few episodes to reach one location to the next, now 10 minutes in the same episode. We watched all those seasons to see Bran to rule the kingdoms, not Snow or Dragon Hitler and they even destroyed the Iron Throne.

Total crap.

I wonder if they rushed Season 8 to wrap it up and focus on this. Or should the question be, why did they make this when they should of taken their time with Season 8?
eddyxx
eddyxx - 10/5/2021, 5:30 AM
@Gandressmex - the show runners of GOT were ready to be done with the show. They signed on to make a Star Wars movie that is probably canceled now. HBO wanted more episodes, D&D did not. This new show is being made by some one else.
Odin

@eddyxx - Yeah, they lost their SW project due to a "scheduling conflict". Like if you're a franchise director/producer, what the hell do you priorities higher than Star Wars?

Hmmm….cautiously interested because it has a killer cast but HBO kind of proved they had difficulty with this franchise without Martin’s text to back them up.

I’ll still check it out
