HOUSE OF THE DRAGON Viewers Spot A Noteworthy VFX Blunder In The HBO Show's Latest Episode

Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon has been embraced by fans, but some eagle-eyed viewers spotted a major VFX blunder in this past Sunday's episode of the hit series. Check it out right here...

It's become surprisingly common in recent years for big budget TV shows to hit the air with major VFX blunders. Whether it's a crew member spotted in the background of The Mandalorian or a coffee cup in the middle of a scene in Game of Thrones, it's hard to believe these mistakes somehow make it through whatever vetting process networks and streamers have.

Now, another noteworthy error has been spotted (via SFFGazette.com). This time, it came in the third episode of House of the Dragon which aired on HBO this past Sunday.

During a key scene in "Second of His Name," Paddy Considine's King Viserys can be seen handing a letter to a messenger with a green glove quite clearly visible on the actor's hand. His fingers were obviously meant to be digitally removed, likely due to the illness that's plaguing him. However, this was either missed or the showrunners decided he'd no longer be missing those digits!

We can't help but think back to Game of Thrones' coffee cup, especially when House of the Dragon showrunner Ryan J. Condal has previously talked in detail about how the team working on this prequel was careful to avoid repeating similar mistakes.

"[It was a] very heavily policed set -- there was lots of Starbucks hunting going on," he said. "I mean, look, that stuff happens all the time. In this case, it happened to be a very - I mean it just goes to show many people watched that series."

They clearly weren't careful enough and this was a fairly big blunder to slip through the cracks. Mistakes happen, though, and it's more of a fun Easter Egg than something likely to ruin House of the Dragon for any of the show's legion of fans. Still, it will be interesting to see if this is fixed in the coming days.

Did you spot this apparent mistake in the latest episode of the Game of Thrones spinoff?

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - Looking at the picture he could just move his fingers so they don't appear behind his hand... someone planned out an expensive and pointless vfx shot then forgot to do it

VFX blinders are definitely common. But my issue has been with VFX from the 2008 looking better than VFX in 2022. It's odd.

Totally didn't notice this as watching it. This is not anywhere close to as big of a deal as the Starbucks cup.

Articles about continuity errors. Sweet. Somebody jumped on the IMDb “goofs” section immediately after viewing.
