We're taking this rumour with a pinch of salt, but self-proclaimed scooper Daniel Richtman (via SFFGazette.com) is claiming that two Hollywood A-Listers may be added to the cast of House of the Dragon for its planned second season.
Those are Henry Cavill (Justice League, Man of Steel) and Elizabeth Olsen (WandaVision, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness). There's no word on who they would play, though adding two huge stars like this to the Game of Thrones prequel would be a huge move on HBO's part.
We do find it hard to believe Cavill will have the time given his current fantasy commitments to Netflix's The Witcher, while Olsen remains part of the MCU. However, with the Scarlet Witch sidelined after the Doctor Strange sequel, she could potentially squeeze a recurring role in.
Remember, there are also rumours swirling that Cavill has been offered the chance to play Hyperion in Loki season 2, but it's possible his potential MCU role has already been shot.
There continue to be rumblings that the British actor is set to reprise the role of Superman in the DC Extended Universe, though we can't imagine him returning as the Man of Steel, joining the MCU, and taking a trip to Westeros. Olsen, however, seems a little more likely considering she has relatively few upcoming projects after recently wrapping work on Love and Death.
Adding two massive names like this to House of the Dragon could be a little distracting, but we'd love to see what either Cavill or Olsen might bring to the table here. Whether it will happen is another matter, and it's probably going to be a while before any official season 2 news is announced.
The first season of House of the Dragon is currently airing on HBO, with the third episode dropping on Sunday. Season 2 has been confirmed, but doesn't have a premiere date yet.
