Fresh from his role in the summer’s box office smash, Marvel’s The Avengers, Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) returns to the worldwide law enforcement organization S.H.I.E.L.D. He puts together a small, highly trained, team of Agents to tackle the cases that haven’t been classified yet, the new, the strange and the unknown. That team consists of straight arrow Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), an expert in combat and espionage; pilot and martial artist Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen); and brilliant if socially awkward scientists Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge). They’ll be joined by civilian new recruit and computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet).

I really really want to like it, but...ugh, so bad. Cheesy, poorly written, acted, directed. Feige!!! Step in on this. Sit Loeb, Jed, and Marissa down. Don't let this tarnish the Marvel brand.

grant ward using that weapon that he stabs into the ground that makes the stun wave is very similar to the one simon uses in the beginning of serenity.... joss sure likes his own creations and recycles them...

I think 80sFace is exaggerating a bit but yes hopefully the acting gets a little better. Otherwise this is a fun show and I can tell its only going to get better.

Joss Whedon shows always take a few episodes to really get going, but once they do, they're incredible. I can't wait to see the season progress.

For some reason, that clip makes me feel like the second episode will be stronger than the first. Maybe because it's a new story that doesn't involve one of the moments I've seen way too many times in all the commercials and previews. But it did feel like the humor was more subtly integrated instead of trying hard for laughs.

has there been any discussions over what people were referring to in the pilot that Coulson didn't know about his 'recovery'? or have I missed that one?
