Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s third season concluded with a head scratcher; after Lincoln sacrificed himself to help save the world from Hive, the series skipped ahead six months, showing the team now hunting a fugitive Daisy, and most surprsingly, Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) back to being an agent, no longer the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.  When asked by Entertainment Weekly if he knew who the new director is, Gregg said he was unsure. "I was not given a clear answer," Gregg said. "I don’t know that it’s been determined. I thought I was going to find out when I saw Civil War, but it’s not at all clear. It all depends when the glorious Nick Fury returns from the cold and the shadows. I suspect, in the wake of the Sokovia Accords and the end of Civil War, the people involved in choosing who the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be are other than in-house S.H.I.E.L.D. people. If I know my government bureaucracies, I have a feeling it will be someone somewhat less qualified than Coulson to run S.H.I.E.L.D."

When asked who he'd like to see in the role, Gregg was quick to propose the 'Cavalry' herself, Melinda May. "I'd love it if it was [May]," Gregg says. "That would be magnificent. She has earned that right and she is a commander that Coulson would absolutely follow with absolute loyalty."

Who do you think is the next Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.? Has Fury returned to his post, or do you want someone new? Sound off below!
