Kevin Feige Hints At AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Connection To ANT-MAN

Speaking to Zap2it, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige addressed that rumor involving the fallout at the end of Ant-Man. Hit the jump to read his comments and more, but beware of SPOILERS!

If you've seen Marvel's Ant-Man, which was released last week, you'll know that Darren Cross attempted to sell his Yellowjacket technology to members of HydraAnt-Man managed to put a stop to all that, but not before Mitchell Carson could make off with Cross' version of the Pym Particles.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fans will know that ex-agent Grant Ward has since taken over as leader of Hydra, leading many of us to wonder if it was in fact him that was ultimately after the Yellowjacket suit. When this question was presented to Kevin Feige, he responded, “People can read into it. We’ll see what it is. We shot that way before [the ‘SHIELD’ finale]." While that may sound like everything is still up in the air, Feige says that's just how it normally goes. "Honestly, somehow that is how connections happen. Something that they don’t seem connected and someone goes, ‘Hey, you know what? We could connect these things.'”

Martin Donovan Brett Dalton Hydra

At SDCC a couple weeks ago, Brett Dalton himself was asked the very same question about his nefarious character. “I think that Hydra doesn’t have a sense of leadership at this point," he says. "We’ve had the Hydra with Strucker, we’ve had the Hydra with Whitehall — all of these other versions of Hydra — and, you know, it’s a ship in need of captaining. Ward has elected himself, and he’s a hero in that story. So, yeah, I don’t know if he’s doing that sort of technology or whatever or if he’s the one who specifically said, ‘Hey, you need to go and get this.’ He’s up there on the list.”

Whether it was Grant Ward himself who made the call remains to be seen, but it definitely sounds like he was involved! We'll know for sure when Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns for season three this fall!

"In the aftermath of SHIELD’s battle with Jiaying and the Inhumans, Director Coulson (Clark Gregg) will search the world for more powered people and assemble an extraordinary new team to deal with threats unlike the world has ever seen. However, the Agents of SHIELD will soon find out they’re not the only ones tracking down these new Inhumans.”

Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns to ABC on Tuesday, September 29 at 9 p.m.

The movie wasn't originally going to end with him getting away with the cross particles.

Peyton Reed: The director revealed that there was originally going to be a showdown with Martin Donovan’s character, Mitchell Carson.

“At the end of the movie he gets away and has these Cross particles, and there was a sequence where Ant-Man has an encounter with him. But then for a couple reasons, it felt like maybe we should leave those particles out there. In that original thing, he took Martin Donovan out and got the particles.”

Sorry, Kevin, it's going to take more than that to trick me into watching AOS. Let me know if Iron Fist shows up.

This is good news. Agents of shield is one good season away from reclaiming face. It's gotten much better during it's second season but i do think it can become stronger and cohesive. Still not a fan of the whole villain of the week TV model, I want more of an arche-style narrative with recurring villains. That team Calvin made should've lasted longer, because the more 3 dimensional villains, the better.

Just kill Ward off already. He has the characteristics of a Nazi wet piece of cardboard.

At this point, it's pretty obvious that Kevin Feige HATES Agents of SHIELD.

MaximusTheMad - What makes you say that? I'm actually curious, since a lot of users have been calling out Feige and his attitude towards the MCU TV shows.

@Deonox
I agree with the villain of the week format, it just doesn't work. I know Joss isn't involved with the show anymore but both Buffy and Angel got so much better after their first season, Buffy's success is mainly attributed to the fact that they kicked the whole "monster of the week" thing, the first season was awful, not entirely because of it, but a factor nonetheless. So hopefully AoS will be spiced up for season 3.

Okay, that's good to hear, and not to throw myself into spoilers, but if you can, can you give some hints on the secret warrior's stuff for season 3, or would that sort of be difficult to do?

Agents of Shield does not exist in the MCU in my mind, so I'm good with whatever they do.
