PRESS RELEASE: MARVEL'S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Heading To Channel 4 In The UK

There is no UK equivalent to ABC in the UK, so many fans on this side of the pond had been wondering when and where Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. would turn up. Well, Channel 4 - who also hold the rights to the incredibly popular Homeland - have now confirmed that they will air the series.

Channel 4 has acquired the UK premiere broadcast rights to ‘“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”, the hotly anticipated new series from Marvel Television and ABC Studios. The series will premiere on Channel 4 in autumn, soon after its launch on the ABC network in the US.

‘‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”, is Marvel’s first live-action television series about the worldwide law enforcement agency S.H.I.E.L.D. Behind the production is US producer, director and co-writer Joss Whedon, creator of the series “Buffy, the Vampire Slayer”, “Angel”, “Dollhouse” and director of the movie “Marvel’s Avengers Assemble”.

Clark Gregg (“Marvel’s Iron Man” and “500 Days of Summer”) returns in his role of Agent Phil Coulson from feature film “Marvel’s Avengers Assemble.” Coulson assembles a small, highly select group of Agents to investigate the new, the strange and the unknown from across the globe protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary.

Coulson's team consists of Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton – “Blue Bloods”, “Army Wives”), highly trained in combat and espionage; Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen – “ER”, “Eureka”), expert pilot and martial artist; Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker – “The Fades”, “In Fear”), brilliant engineer; and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge – “Hollyoaks”, “Shelter”), genius bio-chemist. Joining them on their journey into mystery is new recruit and computer hacker, Skye (Chloe Bennet – “Nashville”, “Intercept”).

Channel 4 Chief Creative Officer, Jay Hunt says; "Like the Super Hero universe from which it has come, “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is big, bold and absolutely exhilarating. Featuring the production values you’d expect from Marvel and ABC Studios, this is family entertainment at its most exciting.”

Catherine Powell, SVP & GM, Media Distribution, The Walt Disney Company, EMEA : "This stand-out series has universal appeal with the excitement and thrilling action we have come to expect from Marvel, brought to life by a superb cast playing fantastic characters. It's terrific news for viewers that "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." is launching on Channel 4."

Hmmmmm surprised Channel 5 didn't pick it up, this is more of their thing than Channel 4's. Wonder what time they'll show it.

[frick], I hate channel 4.

Whoa, did not see that coming. I assumed Sky Atlantic would have peddled it over here and terestrial would have picked it up further down the line.

C4 need to make sure they're broadcasting pretty damn soon after it's out on the US otherwise they'll lose a lot of viewers to download.

It seems right up Channel 4's ally, a nice companion to Homeland.
I'm surprised Sky Atlantic didn't pick this up actually.
Although Atlantic is normally for HBO shows.

But yeah, well done Channel 4!

Aah I see! Yeah it seemed like a very "Sky" show but it's great that Channel 4 have it, it means it'll get a bigger audience.

ITV rarely and I mean rarely import foreign shows and would have had no space for it due to the soaps, football, chatshows and other dramas taking the key timeslots, the BBC are as cheap as [frick], only options were either Channel 4, 5 or Satelite TV(Sky Atlantic or FX), the first three were probably the three bidders. It will be interesting to see where they put it and on what day.

I too am a brit - although an old one. I remember a time when Comicbook movie fans only had Superman and Condorman to rely on...and we felt sooo grateful.

I also remember when C4 first came into existance!!

Dooo...dooo...do...doooooo! And then we held our breathe for...COUNTDOWN!

The channel is called Channel 4, don't be so quick to judge a channel by it's name. It holds more integrity than any American channel and has the best channel idents in the world. Don't be so so quick to be opinionated without any knowledge of the subject.

Maybe take some time out appreciate some beautiful work and educate yourself at the same time: http://www.theidentgallery.com/menu_section_channel4.php

Countdown was amazing, especially with Rachel Riley, wow :-P

I'd rather it had been on sky as i'm more likely to see it advertised and find out when it's on- don't watch channel 4.

may end up on E4 though i guess, would be better

@Batmaniac

We know he's only calling it that to get a reaction out of people.

If he doesn't think the show looks good, then fine. State your reasons, if you feel that you must, and then move on. You can't expect to go onto a fan site, call something that many of those fans are looking forward to 'shit', and not expect to get shit in return for it.

Ignoring them would probably be more efficient; far fewer comments reacting to trolls, and more space for people to leave legitimate/constructive feedback.

You can't win against a troll/marvelite/grif/nolanite/bay-ite by giving them a taste of their own medicine, as they can just keep coming back.
