Daredevil: Born Again is among Marvel Studios' most highly anticipated upcoming projects and, while there are lots of rumours about the Disney+ series, official details are few and far between.

A few days ago, we learned that Michael Gandolfini is set to play Daniel Blade. The character isn't one with a comic book counterpart, meaning we've been unable to turn to those for clues. However, a couple of scoopers have revealed he's Wilson Fisk's Director of Communications...and that there's more to him than meets the eye.

It appears he'll be the MCU's take on Butch, a gangster who learned The Kingpin had an affair with his mother. After rising up the ranks, he eventually set his sights on Fisk's position and set out to become the new Kingpin of Crime.

This would be a fun direction to take things in, though we're shocked The Rose isn't appearing before Butch. This series appears to be taking many cues from Chip Zdarsky's memorable run on the title, though, so that may be why it's heading in this direction.

The cast of Daredevil: Born Again includes Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher, and Sandrine Holt as Vanessa Fisk. Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva, Nikki M. James, Michael Gaston, Arty Froushan, and Clark Johnson have all been cast in undisclosed roles, though a recent U.S. Copyright Office listing may have revealed at least some of their identities

Michael Cuesta has been tapped to helm the first episode of the series, while Clark Johnson, Jeffrey Nachmanoff, and David Boyd are among those also set to lend their directing talents to the Disney+ series.

A premiere date hasn't been revealed, but as a result of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, the current expected premiere for Daredevil: Born Again is January 2025.

Stay tuned for updates as we have them.

Huh, he might be playing a character who's mother had an affair with Fisk. (Any chance he is Fisk's son)

and his dad was a fan favorite pick for Kingpin

I could see Fisk giving him a job to be closer to him but Butch himself is unaware of his true parentage…

Matt probably uncovers this and tries to use it to ruin Fisk’s mayoral campaign while the latter tries to keep it in the dark as much as possible this ensuing a cat & mouse game between the 2 once again.

@TheVisionary25 - I hope Kingpin is named mayor and this sets up the new Spider-Man trilogy. A trilogy with Kingpin as mayor during a stage similar to Dark Reign that begins with the new Cap 4 movie.

In the second film of the new trilogy, Kingpin can found a super team (Sinister Six) to capture the masked men disapproved of by the new government. The fugitives.

Hot take, I recently saw "The Many Saints of Newark". I did not think Michael was a very good actor.

In fairness to him, that movie is lowsy with terrible writing, pacing and just weird parodys of previously established characters, so maybe he'll be better in something that isn't as bad.

@SATW42 - I recently watched The Sopranos for the first time and it was nearly a masterpiece, in my opinion.

I then proceeded to watch The Many Saints of Newark and was shocked on how terrible, boring and unengaging it was.

@SATW42 - I thought he was good in it but it’s been a while since I seen the movie.
