Daredevil star Vincent D'Onofrio has made no secret of the fact he wants to pit his Kingpin of Crime against Spider-Man, and reiterated those hopes during a convention appearance this weekend.
However, this time, he's not shying away from sharing who he believes the victor will be.
"I have a strong feeling, and I've said this since I started the Netflix show, that eventually I'm going to kick Spider-Man's ass," D'Onofrio told fans at GalaxyCon, making it clear the wall-crawler is no match for his villain. Whether this eventually happens remains to be seen, but it would be a great moment for Marvel fans.
The Netflix version of Kingpin was formidable, but not superpowered. That made sense in the grounded version of the MCU Marvel Television delivered, but Hawkeye pointed to some huge changes being made to the villain.
Between his fight with Kate Bishop and the fact he tore a car door off its hinges like it was nothing, Fisk has either taken the Super Soldier Serum or is now just as strong as his comic book counterpart.
The Kingpin was a Spider-Man villain before becoming one of Daredevil's foes, so a clash makes sense, anyway. We also can't forget that there have previously been rumblings about Fisk taking centre stage in Spider-Man 4, a movie that will reportedly see the web-slinger team up with the Man Without Fear.
Marvel Studios may be exploring the Multiverse in Phase 5, but there's still room for grounded stories and it's about time we follow some street-level superheroes for a change. A Spider-Man and Daredevil team-up? That sounds pretty amazing to us.
Daredevil: Born Again is still expected to premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2024.
