Following the success of
The Runaways, Hulu has announced that it's expanding its partnership with Marvel Television by ordering two new series:
Ghost Rider and
Helstrom, both of which are set to debut in 2020.
Gabriel Luna played The Spirit of Vengeance on the fourth season of
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and while
the initial report seemed to suggest that he wouldn't be reprising the role, Marvel has now confirmed that he will once again be firing-up as the demonic antihero.
Even though Luna is playing the same character that was introduced in ABC's flagship Marvel series, we're hearing that this is not at
AOS spin-off and this incarnation of Robbie Reyes will have no connection to previous one.
An odd choice, but then the
Terminator: Dark Fate actor was very well received as Ghost Rider so it does make sense that they'd want to get him back on board for this new take on the character.
Ghost Rider, also known as Robbie Reyes, is consumed by hellfire and supernaturally bound to a demon. He lives on the Texas/Mexico border and when he unleashes the Rider, Robbie brings vengeance for the innocents he encounters, but struggles to control the power he wields
Ingrid Escajeda will serve as showrunner and executive producer on
Marvel's Ghost Rider, with Paul Zbyszewski and Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb executive producing.
