Marvel And ABC Actively Developing A New Series Focusing On A "Mostly New" Female Superhero

There's a new Marvel superhero series in the works at ABC, and it'll focus on a brand new female character... mostly!

We're not entirely sure what that means, but that is what ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke had to say to Deadline about the project.

“I have spoken to Marvel and we are in active talks about one project in particular,” said Burke, adding that the character would be “something brand new, mostly” and that the series would fit in with its strategy of female-focused superheroes.

Last year, ABC gave a production commitment to an untitled hourlong drama from Wonder Woman writer Heinberg and Marvel Television and ABC Studios which would focus on a team of female heroes, but that is said to be completely separate to this new project.

Marvel still has a huge roster of female character that have yet to be developed for either the big or small screens. In this report, Deadline very specifically mentions She-Hulk and New Mutants character Danielle Moonstar for some reason - but we wouldn't read too much into that. There's every chance the trade simply Googled a list of female Marvel heroes and picked two at random.

At any rate, more details on this mysterious new show will hopefully come to light soon. In the meantime, let us know what you think in the comments.

Guess they need something to replace Agents Of Shield, Well Agent Carter and Inhumans didn't last, and Joss Whedon is busy with the Nevers and a Buffy reboot/continuation, so they need to find someone who can develop a really good show, maybe just see if Joss can do what he did on Agents Of Shield, develop the story and do the pilot before passing to the main team.

Only if it’s actually a part of the MCU, I’m kinda getting sick of Marvel TV doing things that aren’t connected in a real way

@Ha1frican - me too man. I'm pissed with the Daredevil situation. I'm glad we got the show and it was awesome but had more than likely shit on the chance to actually have him part of the MCU, or maybe even get a movie.

I could dig a She-Hulk project at any scale. Preferably on the big screen, but a Disney + series would be awesome too. The character is past due for the spotlight. Does Universal have rights to her as well?
