The first footage from Powers will debut tomorrow at New York Comic Con. Cast members Susan Heyward, Noah Taylor, Olesya Rulin, Logan Browning and Eddie Izzard will be in attendance, along with executive producer of the show and co-creator of the graphic novels, Brian Michael Bendis. Earlier this week they released the first poster from the upcoming series and just ahead of tomorrow's panel Bendis has released a first look at Izzard as the supervillain 'Wolfe.' Bendis stated: "I can’t wait to share this show with all of you – the comic book and gamer communities. So this Saturday at New York Comic Con, we’ll be debuting the very first trailer for Powers — including exclusive footage from the show! Tomorrow, the brilliant actor Eddie Izzard himself will give you insight into his role as one of the most terrifying villains you’ve ever seen on screen: Wolfe. As a special treat, here’s a sneak peek of Eddie as Wolfe, a Power who has been pushed beyond the edge of madness."
"Powers," an edgy dramatic series from Sony Pictures Television and inspired by the graphic novel series of the same name, follows the lives of two homicide detectives, Christian Walker (Copley) and Deena Pilgrim (Heyward), who are assigned to investigate cases involving people with extraordinary abilities, referred to as “Powers.” Set amidst today’s paparazzi culture, Powers asks the questions, what if the world was full of superheroes who aren’t actually heroic at all? What if all that power was just one more excuse for mischief, mayhem, murder, and endorsement deals? Enter the men and women of the Powers Division, the only people brave enough to go up against the overpaid, commercialized, superhumans who glide through the sky imposing their power over the crowds below who both worship and fear them.
The first episode was written by Charlie Huston (who also serves as showrunner with Remi Aubuchon) and directed by David Slade (
30 Days Of Night, Hannibal). The series will launch on the PlayStation Network this December.
