The current status for a TV pilot for Powers at FX.
Oeming: I've read the new scripts by Charlie Huston, and he really has captured the voice of "Powers." The pilot we filmed was really good, but these new scripts are already closer to "Powers." One of the best parts of working on the show has been being able to look much closer at "Powers," nuances we normally wouldn't inspect in the comic, and then bringing that new knowledge back into the series. The experience has really refreshed the book. "Powers" fans are in for a treat.
Seems like
Powers has been "coming" to the small screen for quite some time now. First teased by Bendis way back in 2009, the series didn't receive a pilot order until 2011. For the initial pilot, the cast consisted of Charles S. Dutton, Bailee Madison, Lucy Punch, Jason Patric, Carly Foulkes, Alona Tal, Titus Welliver, and Christian Walker. The pilot was thought to air in June of 2012 before heading back to the drawing board. After re-shoots the show still wasn't greenlit and it looks as if a large part of the initial cast have moved on to other projects. In November, a second pilot was shot (it was mysteriously, never revealed with what actors) but that also needed more work apparently and FX kept their lights on yellow rather than green. However, just last month FX President John Landgraf said that Powers isn't dead and that there's new work being done by Bendis, Oeming and writer Charlie Huston in hopes of a new pilot. The show is not one of the many contenders in the current pilot season that just got underway but don't be surprises if the show pops up again in the next round.
