We're back with another roundup of MCU news, starting with an unexpected first look at VisionQuest's take on a major Young Avenger.
Trailers for the Disney+ series have shown Tommy using his powers, but a newly revealed Funko Pop pulls back the curtain on what appears to be his final look as "Speed."
It doesn't appear to be a full-blown costume—that's likely coming somewhere down the line—but Ruaridh Mollica will wear a getup that's strikingly similar to what we've seen from the comic book version of Tommy.
A new featurette for VisionQuest has also been released today:
The Hollywood Reporter recently spoke with Inde Navarrette about her role in Obsession and asked what her future goals are now that she's one of Hollywood's most in-demand young stars.
The actress will play Rogue in Marvel Studios' X-Men reboot and clearly sees the project as a chance to show a new side of herself. The part is one Navarrette is taking seriously, as she made a point of sharing her desire to do right by the comics.
"I think the future is looking like really hunkering down because I’m in a very specific opportunity in my career where I can kind of make it last as long as humanly possible or throw it all away. I really want to be specific with the next couple of my decisions to really solidify what I want to do in this industry. And what I want to do is play characters that are people and grounded and really thought-through."
"And I really want to not look like myself in some characters. I also recognise that with acting comes the freedom of being a completely different person, one of those people being Rogue, Anna Marie… paying homage, paying respect to the incredible writers that are a part of Marvel, with Jake Schreier directing, taking what they want to do, adding my own sauce, and then going from there!"
Over to The Rich Eisen Show now, and the YouTube host recently caught up with X-Men: First Class star James McAvoy. Asked if he'll return to the role of Professor X given the MCU's exploration of the Multiverse. However, the Scottish actor confirmed that he's likely done with Charles Xavier.
"Look, there are always possibilities. I'm not involved in any way. No. No. No. I did 10 good years in that, and it was amazing. But to be honest with you, some people stay in the same gig for decades, and that's something the industry really affords everyone. I've been afforded a certain level of dexterity and variety in the work that I'm allowed to do. And that's really the kind of stuff that fuels me is constantly pushing myself. It's why I'm directing now. I want to challenge myself in that field as well and not kind of fall into just doing the same thing again and again. So, it would feel weird going back, anyway."
So, no McAvoy in Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars, but what about Jeremy Renner? The actor recently claimed that he's not part of Doomsday, but got everyone talking today after sharing a photo of several West Coast Avengers comics.
Could Renner be teasing what's next for him as Hawkeye? Probably not, as upon closer inspection, we see that he's signed all these comics, meaning they're for fans, not research purposes.
