We recently learned more about Marvel Studios' plans for "Party Thor" in the What If? animated series coming to Disney+, and The Illuminerdi is back today with intel about an episode focusing on Black Widow.
We've spotted that character in promo art for the show, and it appears this version of Natasha Romanoff will be decked out in some sort of advanced armour. Why? Well, this take on the fan-favourite character is one of the only survivors following Ultron's destruction of Sokovia in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
In that movie, the villainous android planned to use the city as an asteroid that would wipe out humans just as the dinosaurs were once killed off millions of years before. Earth's Mightiest Heroes eventually defeated him, but it seems they failed in this timeline, and only Natasha managed to make it out alive.
It will certainly be pretty interesting to see what Earth will look like with Ultron ruling over it, and chances are it will be something along the lines of what we saw in Brian Michael Bendis and Bryan Hitch's Age of Ultron comic book series.
That likely means Natasha will cross paths with other familiar faces, and we can only hope Marvel Studios has enlisted James Spader to reprise the role of Ultron. It's also hard not to wonder whether this episode will tie into Tony Stark heading into outer space instead of The Hulk (a Sakaarian Hulkbuster was revealed in some newly surfaced LEGO sets yesterday).
What If? premiere on Disney+ this August.
