Why Marvel Should Contact Sofia Boutella And Have Her Audition To Be The Next Elektra

I feel like Marvel would be making a mistake by not giving her a chance to audition for the role of Elektra in Marvel and Netflix’s “Daredevil”. In this article, I’ll try to show you why I feel like Boutella is more than capable of giving us a great Elektra and why she would be a great addition to Marvel and Netflix’s “Daredevil”.

Sofia Boutella is an upcoming and rising actress in Hollywood.  She has won over many fans with her portrayal of “Gazelle” in Matthew Vaughn’s “The Kingsman”.  If you haven’t seen “Kingsman: The Secret Service” yet, I highly recommend it.  A great film that only gets better with multiple viewings.

With that said, Boutella is extremely talented, and I feel like Marvel would be making a mistake by not giving her a chance to audition for the role of Elektra in Marvel and Netflix’s “Daredevil”.

In this article, I’ll try to show you why I feel like Boutella is more than capable of giving us a great Elektra and why she would be a great addition to Marvel and Netflix’s Daredevil”.

In the comics,

“Elektra is a kunoichi – female ninja assassin – of Greek descent. She wields a pair of bladed sai as her trademark weapon. Created by Frank Miller, Elektra first appeared in Daredevil #168 (January 1981). She is a love interest of the superhero Daredevil, but her violent nature and mercenary lifestyle divide the two. She is one of Frank Miller's best-loved creations, and subsequent writers' use of her is controversial as Marvel had originally promised to not resurrect the character without Miller's permission.  She has also appeared as a supporting character of the X-Men's Wolverine and in other series and mini-series as well as adaptations for the screen.”

Boutella is an Algerian-French dancer, actress and musician, known mainly for hip-hop and street dance, known as the Nike Girl from Nike Women advertising campaigns. She starred in films such asStreetDance 2Monsters: Dark Continent and Kingsman: The Secret Service.

Boutella is really talented.  She is an athlete and a dancer.

She also studied Thai Boxing and Taekwondo in order to do this in “Kingsman: The Secret Service

Of the training, Boutella has said,

“The stunt training for the film was intense,” Boutella continued. “They taught me Thai boxingtaekwondo and how to work with cables. Gazelle uses her legs to kill, so I had to learn different types of kicks. I’d never done anything like it before.”

On to her acting,

It was hard to find clips of Boutella’s acting, because it is so early in her career, so before you watch the clip, take this into consideration.

Imagine this scene (minus some, if not all of the dancing)
Boutella is Elektra
Replace the guy in this scene for Matt Murdock
Change the music
Change the environment to college or somewhere in Hell’s Kitchen

And, most importantly, imagine the tone to that of Daredevil

I really feel like Boutella could own this role.  I think Marvel would be missing out if they didn’t at least contact her for an audition.

So, that’s the News that I am hoping to hear,

Sofia Boutella is Elektra in Daredevil!!

Or

Sofia Boutella auditioned for Daredevil, although Marvel is considering her for the role, the audition process is still ongoing and Marvel is still looking for the right actress.

Anyway, thanks for reading and I hope this made sense and didn’t sound like I was rambling.

She is a bad actress, she is not Netflix quality, as simple as that.

Because she looks like her doesn't mean she should play her.

And on the other hand Daredevil survived pretty good without Elektra, so she is not needed at all, it would be cool but not mandatory important.

I like her but she's not my first choice. I want Eliza Dushku.

@VictorMancha

"Because she looks like her doesn't mean she should play her."

Did you read the article? This choice isn't based solely on her looks.

@RextheKing , @Scorpion8125

Eliza Dushku reminds me too much of Jennifer Garner. I want something new from the show. I really feel like Boutella can do it. It was hard to find acting clips of here, she speaks fluent french too.

With Boutella, we know that the action will be on point.

And, I think she can own the character.

But, all I'm saying, is that I think she deserves a chance to audition and Marvel should consider her

I have not seen any of her work, therefore I cannot say anything about her.

Personally I hope we don't Elektra or Bullseye until season 3.

I honestly have not really thought too much about who should play Elektra. My lazy pick would be Katrina Law from Spartacus.

On a side note, I personally liked Colin Farrell as Bullseye.

I think they will go into that Frank Miller Man Without Fear run but I don't think they cast her. At this point there are maybe 10 actresses on earth they can't get for Daredevil. If the numbers are right Daredevil might be the most watched scripted TV show on earth right now. I am guessing they get someone who has more range and close in age to Charlie Cox.

Also I always imagined Bullseye as a young Woody Harrelson. if there's a guy that looked like a young woody harralson he should play bullseye, if he also can act.

I think its going to be difficult to get a young rising star to work on a TV series. the bulk of the talent on Jessica Jones and DD have had success as a member an a succesful TV series. Charlie Cox in Boardwalk Empire, Deborah Ann Woll - True Blood, David Tennant - Dr Who, Krysten Ritter - Breaking Bad, all examples. Even Vincent D'Onofrio a veteran of film had a long run on Law & Order: Criminal Intent. You can get an aging actor like Scott Glen or Carrie-Anne Moss to appear as well.

What I'm saying is some one like Sofia Boutella is going to hold out for a role in one of the movies. Trust me no one wants to end up like Adrianne Palicki.

@speedyg33

Yeah, I think it would be difficult but I still think she should audition because it would definitely be a big boost to her career either way.

It would help the show too, because she has a big fan base from her music/dancing career, she's known worldwide in those industries. If she was cast on the show, it would bring the show even more support from those fans.

I see what your saying though, that's why she's also starring in "Star Trek 3" next....

But, I think she would rock this role, and Netflix isn't a normal Tv show anyway, it's high quality and it feels like a movie

Just because she's popular on the pop industry doesn't mean she should get the role, hell beiber sold millions of records and i have more talent than him. Being stunning and exotic doesn't make her a good actress. Katrina law, Odette Anabelle or Eliza dushku all better suited.
@DrKinsolving How is Eliza dushku like Jennifer garner? ethnically she's probably best suited for the role being Albanian( you know country right next to Greece and all)

@DrKinsolving wasn't quoting you I was eluding to the fact that she may be popular in France but doesn't make her a good actress and deserving of the elektra role.
DrKinsolving
DrKinsolving - 5/27/2015, 2:40 PM
@sickboy76

Alright, the way you word that, you could be talking about anybody from France then

She also has a large following in the US, especially in the Dance/Music Industries, and she's becoming more known in Hollywood, she was just cast in Star Trek 3

@DrKinsolving again I don't understand what popularity has to do with talent?

Absolutely nothing

Your the one who brought up popularity....

Obviously, Popularity does have to do with selling tickets and making money though

@DrKinsolving why should a relative unknown (unless you're into ghetto dance that is) who's been in one English speaking role and been not very good get such a important role?
DrKinsolving
DrKinsolving - 5/27/2015, 2:58 PM
@sickboy76

If she's relatively unknown, then how did she get cast in "Star Trek 3"

With all of these actors?

Zoe Saldana
Chris Pine
Simon Pegg
Idris Elba
Karl Urban
Zachary Quinto
Anton Yelchin
Chekov
Joseph Gatt
John Cho

Totally shipping you two. I think it'll work between you two, you use the same euphemisms! Fingers crossed!

Only issue is she might look a little too young next to Charlie cox. Sarah shahi at least looks to be the same age.

Sofia Boutella and Charlie Cox are actually the same age, both born in 1982

I'm sure they could make the age look right on screen

Very interesting choice if she would be willing. She is an absolutely amazing athlete. She is able to perform maneuvers that fight choreographers only dream an actress may do. A filmmaker can use that to their advantage and have her clearly shown performing the complex fight choreography in scene shots, which Elektra's character look necessitates.

FYI, I think Ryan Phillipe was actually speaking to marvel about playing Bullseye. It would really be great to see actors and actresses that can truly perform some complex choreography to take the series to the next level. Hoping Iron Fist raises the bar and has the second season of Daredevil follow suit.
