It was announced last June that director Gina Prince-Bythewood (Cloak and Dagger, The Secret Life of Bees) had lined up a Netflix adaptation of Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernandez's sci-fi action comic series The Old Guard, and we recently got our first look at the main cast courtesy of some official stills.

Now, EW has shared another couple of images. The first features Charlize Theron as Andromache of Scythia wielding her signature ax, while we also have a new shot "Andy" alongside some of her fellow immortals played by KiKi Layne (If Beale Street Could Talk), Luca Marinelli (Trust) and Marwan Kenzari (Aladdin).

“I had the most incredible shoulders after,” laughed Theron when asked about having to train with the huge double-handed battle-ax. "I’ve never had to do anything like that. You have to learn to fight with that ginormous thing in a way where you don’t kill the person that you’re fighting with.”

The Old Guard

The Old Guard

Theron plays a centuries-old warrior who has died hundreds of times, only to resurrect and continue to fight. When we catch up with her in the present day she's leading a tactical vigilante team of immortal warriors that takes out human traffickers, terrorists, and anyone else who preys on the vulnerable and the innocent.

When new immortal Nile (Layne) joins their ranks, the crew must work even harder to avoid being tracked down by a CIA operative and historian (Ejiofor) who has figured out their identities.

The Old Guard was produced by Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger, along with Theron, Beth Kono and AJ Dix for Denver and Delilah; and Marc Evans. Rucka penned the script himself. Do you guys plan on checking this out when it hits Netflix on July 10?

@JH24 - well if her goal is saving people then thats the stakes. Like the original superman was basically immortal yet there were stakes, aka californias coast.

Yet another "tested" and "seasoned" warrior on screen with weapon that looks so new and clean like it was just bought at Bass Pro.
At least try for some realism... dirty things up a little... give me the old Star Wars level of 'lived in'.

@JonC - wouldnt a seasoned warrior make sure all their gear was in prestine condition? Maybe even buying or making new weapons when older ones get worn out? Why's this where your suspension of disbelief falls apart in a story about IMMORTALS?

@NateBest

A ton of my replies kept being removed from this thread:

I posted it 3 times differently. All deleted. I don't really mind but I didn't really say anything wrong. So I'm not sure who moderates these comments sections nowadays.

@NateBest - Well the conversation I was having is over now so there's not much point in continuing it. But my comment was roughly along the these lines:

"ROTS only gets a PG-13 rating because killing younglings happens off screen. I don't think ROTS is too dark for kids - I watched at when I was 9 and so did all my friends. We never had a problem with it."

Origame's comments were deleted as well. His argument was roughly the same as mine. You can ask him too if you wish.

@Nightwing1015 - that's really odd... were they replies to another comment that may have been deleted? When a comment is nuked, it takes any replies with it...

@NateBest - No the original comment still stands. It's the first one of the comments section. Some of my replies are still there. But nothing past my first 2 were allowed to stay.

I posted it 2-3 times and they were deleted. Origame commented along similar lines and his comments were deleted also. My comment talking to Origame about this was also deleted.
