We thought we might get a first look at some footage from Netflix's live-action Cowboy Bebop series during "Geeked Week," and though there was no sign of a proper teaser (hey, the week's not over yet!), the streamer did share some exciting updates.

The promo below features main cast members John Cho (Spike Spiegel), Mustafa Shakir (Jet Black), and Daniella Pineda (Faye Valentine) jamming out to the anime's iconic opening theme, "Tank." Though they don't appear to be in full costume as their respective characters, Netflix has confirmed that Cho is sporting his "Spike hair" here.

We also have confirmation that the show is set to premiere this Fall (no exact date, unfortunately), and that anime composer Yoka Kano, who has worked on the likes of Vision of Escaflowne, Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex, Turn A Gundam, Macross Plus, and more, will be creating the soundtrack.

Cowboy Bebop will be exec produced and written by Christopher Yost (Thor), who will also serve as showrunner along with Andre Nemec, Josh Appelbaum, Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg of Midnight Radio; Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements of Tomorrow Studios; Yasuo Miyakawa, Masayuki Ozaki, and Shin Sasaki of Sunrise Inc.

The original anime's director Shinichiro Watanabe is on board as a consultant.

This is one of the MOST DAUNTING ADAPATATIONS ever imo. This is Bebop. Feels like they're chasing something that can never come close to the OG because the OG is just timeless and legitimately perfect.

The lack of Ed and Ein is concerning. Expectations are low as Netflix has bene really miss lately. I don’t think that CBB is something that lends itself to a live action remake. So much of the appeal was the beautiful art and the atmosphere that it created in conjunction with the sound design.

Man they actually look good for the characters, I’ve liked them before in other stuff. I’m kinda excited for this, hope it’s got a big budget, and hope the action is top class too. It would be a shame if this disappoints. But I’m hopeful.

Not familiar with the source material, but it being a Netflix adaptation I feel like I'm still gonna be dissappointed (they have had more misses than hits lately imo)

Like with the ATLA adaptation(s) I just feel there is quite a lot to lose compared to the very good animated original, but not that much they could improve on with a live action format. We'll see.

Yoko Kanno being on board is definitely not a bad thing, but she already did outstanding work on the original. It'd be a bit like getting Ennio Morricone to score a CGI animated Once Upon A Time In The West remake. Like, it'd be weird to have the story without his musice, but why is it being done in the first place?

I don't understand adapting Cowboy Bebop. It's already a condensed narrative that had a definitive . Unless they expand on Spike's past, and even then i still don't need it

@LeBronStan - not to mention inherently already cinematic.

Looking forward to this I love Cowboy Bebop and Yoko Kanno coming back to score is just icing on the cake. Still skeptical after the disappointment that is Jupiter's Legacy.

I like the stuff Cho has been in for the most part so far, so I'll give it a chance.

Personally I'm looking more forward to One Piece than this, but I am pretty curious about this live-action take on the popular anime!

Not too sure I'm sold yet on John Cho as Spike. I would have probably gone with Andrew Koji from Warrior and Snake Eyes.

Haven't seen the original just yet, even though my friend can't shut up about it. I can tell you for sure that I've seen cosplay with way better wigs. But at least they got the music right.

Gosh this and akira are The Godfather of anime’s to me so I’m praying this is good. Also surprised how much I like chos hair, but still nervous for him specifically. Netflix should stop if this fails like death note did.

Meh, stop complaining guys. If you wind up liking it, great! If you don’t like it, don’t watch it again. You still have the original.

Ed will be a black Hollywood-autistic kid who refuses to identify as either a male or a female.
