AHSOKA Adds SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE Director To Helm At Least One Episode

The Hollywood Reporter (SFFGazette.com) reveals that filmmaker Peter Ramsey is going from the Spider-Verse to a Galaxy Far, Far Away for Disney+'s upcoming Ahsoka TV series. The first Black director to win the "Best Animated Feature" Oscar after co-helming Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Ramsey will take charge of at least one episode of the show.

Shooting begins in Los Angeles later this month, so we should get more news on this one soon. Star Wars Celebration would certainly be a good place to reveal the full list of directors and an episode count, but that information doesn't usually come our way until these shows are streaming!

The series will see Rosario Dawson return as Ahsoka Tano after appearing in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, while Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ivanna Sakhno, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Ray Stevenson, and Hayden Christensen are all also set to appear in the highly anticipated project.

Very little is known about Lucasfilm's Ahsoka plans, though it is expected to serve as a sequel to the events of Star Wars Rebels (hence why Dave Filoni has written the show). That means we should learn more about what became of Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn after that huge cliffhanger.

Ramsey went from making his name as a storyboard artist on the likes of Fight Club and Men in Black to working in animation with critically acclaimed movies Rise of the Guardians and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. He's since set up a number of live-action projects, but this is by far the biggest.

Keep checking back SFFGazette.com for the latest on Ahsoka

Hopefully we get some more announcements on this show at Star Wars celebration. Including Ezra and Sabine castings and which other directors we're gonna see do some episodes.

OT: anyone else having issues with the format on the mobile version of the site and just general slowness of the site on both mobile and pc?

That's some good talent to bring into the SW universe.

Hyped for this show because I don't think Filoni will want to pollute Ahsoka with Sequel Trilogy fan fiction nonsense

SW has been dead to me for many years now.

OT: I haven't been on for a few days and noticed a dislike button...? How is this going? Are people just "dislike bombing" each other or what?

@Feralwookiee - tell me about your Fandom Feral. Are you a die hard OT fan? Are you like me in that the awful ST made you re-evaluate the PT? Do you like any of the Disney Plus shows for SW? Curiosity kills the cat and all that.

@McMurdo - Yeah. I'm a Gen X-er old school OT fan and the PT took a lot of the winds out of the sails, but the Disney fan fiction movies did make me look back and reappraise them.

I don't hardly watch TV shows and don't have Disney +. I just can't get into tv and don't have the patience to watch dozens and dozens of episodes and what little clips I've seen look very uninspired.

SW has been rehashing the same old shit for so long it's just sad imo.

@Feralwookiee - ya I feel you on that. The ST really made me feel the IP has seen its very best days and they are long gone. Favreau and Mando have given me some hope but they are slowly dropping in Sequel Trilogy nonsense to connect the universe and it's only going to get harder for me to invest as more of that takes place. I just won't ever be able to get past how they handled Luke Leia Han and even Chewie as characters in the ST. Negligence if you ask me. So what franchises still get you excited these days?

@McMurdo - I'd honestly have to say there are no franchises that get me pumped up anymore. The MCU probably took the place of SW for me for a few years, but I've pretty much tapped out with Endgame. I mean, I watched the latest Spidey and will probably go see Doctor Strange 2, but there's not much else coming up in the MCU that's a "must see" for me.

How about you?

@Feralwookiee - I'm similar for sure. I love the OT SW Trilogy. I love the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. I'm always hopeful for anything in those two universes but it's so hard to get excited now as so many of the wrong folk have way too much creative power. Expect the Rings of Power show to be awful but I'm hoping by some miracle it isn't.
