Last week's episode of Ahsoka, "Fallen Jedi," was helmed by Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and The Mandalorian director Peter Ramsey. It was an action-packed and memorable effort which featured multiple epic lightsaber duels and Hayden Christensen's long-rumoured return as Anakin Skywalker.

Talking to IGN (via SFFGazette.com) about his widely-praised fourth instalment of the Disney+ series, Ramsey opened up on working with Christensen to shoot Anakin's first live-action exchange with Ahsoka Tano in the World Between Worlds.

"He’s a really sweet, low-key guy," the filmmaker says. "He was pretty happy about being there after all this time. It had a lot of meaning for him."

As for how he prepared the Obi-Wan Kenobi star for the scene, Ramsey adds, "We just talked about what it's like for him to be seeing Ahsoka after all this time, that it's a reunion for them. And I just told him, 'It's like you haven't seen your daughter in two years. She'd gone off to college and you're seeing her again and she's like a different person but still your daughter.'"

"On the Rosario side of it," he continued, "she knew what it meant in the story and it was just about selling the idea that she was waking up somewhere really having no clue as to what was going on, not understanding 'am I dead? Am I alive? Am I where I think I could be?' And the way that expression changes at the very end when she sees him and says his name is so sweet and it was just like her turning back the person she was the last time she saw him."

The site put it to Ramsey that The Clone Wars star Matt Lanter's voice was merged with Christensen's "Hello, Snips," a popular fan theory many believe was meant to act as a transition from animation to live-action.

The filmmaker quickly debunked that and also said he played no role in the digital de-ageing of Anakin. "It was a decision made at some point. I don't know," Ramsey admitted. "Maybe it means something."

Fantastic episode! Great to see Hayden given another shot at the character. Also we finally see Ahsoka the Grey become Ahsoka the White. Show has been killing it and we haven’t even gotten to Thrawn yet.

We have a new Lucas in Filoni and new Williams in Kiner.

The upcoming movies under them are in great hands.

Episode 5 was epic.

@vectorsigma - Those string arpeggios when Anakin does his shoulder shrug and switches between him and Vader were chill inducing and something that only Ludwig G has come close to replicating Star Wars music magic. Perfection.

I can’t express how much I love this episode. Speechless, tearing, smiling, geeked out, all rolled into one. It definitely hits harder for those who watched clone wars and rebels. Dave Filoni should be in charge of every single Star Wars content to come out. The man is truly a master.

It also really hit me this episode watching it in live action that Ahsoka was just a little kid thrust into a war zone lol. Just a healthy dose of early trauma. Young Ahsoka did great.

Anakin makes a great point to Ahsoka about how they’re connected to a long lineage of important masters and apprentices and war.

Yoda-Dooku-Qui Gon-Obi Wan-Anakin-Ahsoka

All that knowledge and wisdom passed down by some of the most important characters in Star Wars history.

I have only two complaints about this episode. I wish somehow the two halves of this episode could have been flipped somehow. The Anakin stuff and all the flashbacks was so good and so damn well done, when it ended about halfway through, I kept wanting more. The second half just left me wanting more World Between Worlds. Soooo much more they could have done there. But all the stuff with Anakin was 10/10.

Only other gripe was I was really hoping to get a true Capt Rex moment. Maybe that's still coming but I'm hoping that wasn't it.

Ramsey directed well last week's episode and Filoni followed up well with this week's episode.

Hayden Christensen and the young actress that portrayed Ahsoka in their Clone Wars period (she played too young Gamora) sold their scenes well.

Overall another good episode.
