A thrilling new trailer for Ahsoka has been released by Lucasfilm (via SFFGazette.com), and with that comes confirmation the Disney+ series will launch with a two-episode premiere.

As for this new sneak peek, it's packed full of huge reveals, including a first look at Lars Mikkelsen's live-action Grand Admiral Thrawn. Those of you who attended Star Wars Celebration in April will already be familiar with this shot of the villain, of course, but for everyone else, it is brand new...unless you happened to catch a certain leak before it was taken down!

In terms of other reveals, there are some big ones, including the fact Baylan and Shin are not Jedi and are actually part of the group looking to bring Thrawn back as part of a mysterious quest for ultimate power. We've heard rumours Mitth'raw'nuruodo/Thrawn might have begun dabbling in the occult during his absence from the wider Galaxy, so the Imperial may be about to make his return in a way we could have never expected.

We also learn that Baylan knew Anakin Skywalker, though whether he's referring to the Jedi when he was Anakin or Darth Vader is hard to say. They've clearly crossed paths, though, and that could mean this character is one we've previously seen in animation.

Finally, the trailer also confirms Ahsoka Tano took on Sabine Wren as her Padawan for a time, presumably meaning the Mandalorian is indeed attuned to the Force. That would explain why she's wielding Ezra Bridger's lightsaber, anyway, and this is a big development for the Star Wars Rebels fan-favourite which we're sure will continue to play out as the series progresses.

Check out the trailer, along with a striking new poster, for Ahsoka below.

Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.

In addition to Rosario Dawson in the title role, the series stars Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, David Tennant as Huyang, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, and Eman Esfandi appearing as Ezra Bridger.

Ahsoka was written by Dave Filoni, who executive produces alongside Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, and Carrie Beck. Directors include Filoni, Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Rick Famuyiwa.

Ahsoka will launch exclusively on Disney+ on August 23.

Larks Mikkelsen looks good as Thrawn.

Gotta make a bigger mental note to remember to catch this when it premieres.

Excited for this. Rebels was a great series and glad to see a spiritual S5 for it.

Thrawn looks okay.

Kathleen Kennedy must love this ….all women except for the evil (non-Jedi white male) and Thrawn.

@TyrantBossMedia - Isn't Ezra, Kanan, Captain Rex, Mando, Luke, and Anakin (Flashbacks) all involved though?

@SonOfAGif - Supporting roles or cameos. Male heroes not allowed apparently,

@SonOfAGif - maybe he meant all main characters are female. Was actually surprised they gave Sabine a major shift being a "padawan".

Based on the timeline for this we have an adult Luke. If he is indeed here, will be interesting to see how he senses Ezra as that kid has shown abilities that are greater than any Jedi we have seen so far in movies/series. But need to rewatch Rebels s4 to refresh my memory.

@TyrantBossMedia - For me, Thrawn's face has been shown on the cover of novels. And though Lars doesn't look bad by any means, he doesn't look like he does on the covers of the books. He looks more serious and just....better on the books.

But this is also just one picture of Lars, albeit with a less than serious look on his face. I think they chose a weird scene of him to stuff into this trailer. They could have made him look more menacing.

@CorndogBurglar - Yeah, that’s why he’s just okay. I agree with you
